Definitions

  • Portable lighting devices for medical treatment are Portable lighting devices for medical treatment
  • This invention is a surgical lighting system, which is used with a nasal speculum, a reflector, a colposcope and retractor.
  • Lighting devices for maintaining visual range are widely used at various surgical fields, such as oral operation, otorhinolaryngology, or vaginal examination.
  • This device is composed of a handle with batteries inside, lighting circuit made up of a battery switch and cords and a lamp connected to the lighting circuits turned on and off by the switch
  • the lamp connected to a power line can reach to a certain distance and a bonding on a lamp or handle makes application of lighting possible while the device is attached to other equipments by operating of the switch
  • the main structure of the device shows three parts, a 'handle' with a battery set inside a 'lighting circuit' made up of batteries a switch, and cords, and a 'lamp' connected to the lighting circuits
  • This lamp works by a switch and projected from the flexible neck
  • the power cords should be installed interior of the neck to make a junction with a lamp.
  • the flexibility of the neck enables control of the range of an angle in free manner. Even when the neck is not set straight it maintains the original shape by using bendable materials, and its handle has a bonding to be attached to the main parts.
  • the explanation above is reliable at the all kinds of surgical devices. For instant applying on a nose tractor attach the device to the tractor using a bond then bend the neck as needed.
  • the operator carries the device and the case of the lamp that is connected to the surgical devices by extending a projected line.
  • For the assembler magnet is strongly suggested.
  • Also application on a retractor is considerable. By this way handle for both the retractor and lighting device can be shared and the main body of the retractor becomes replaceable as needed.

  • the case forms a lockup (20) to be attached to a surgical device. It also combines a battery (41), switch (42) and power lines (43) to compose a lighting circuits (40). The lamp operates upon a switch.
  • the lockup on a lighting lamp case can be used as substitute for a magnet panel assembled on surgical device and a case A coiled power line lengthens no longer than 20 cm, and about 40cm when extended
  • a fixture is fixed on the bottom of the lamp case with a magnet to facilitate attachment of a lamp case. Also using an iron core (22) or magnet can attach the lamp case to junction of the surgical devices as well. For maintenance of the lamp not in use either magnet or iron core is required attached on a grip Especially utilization of a magnet for lockup of the lighting lamp makes the operation easier as the simple attachment-detachment procedure helps movement of the devices This demonstration promises convenience to operators because it is used as clipped on a pocket of the person in use, and the lamp case is attached to the main body of the surgical equipments

  • This handle can cooperate with other devices, and a s-nall battery (41) can be inserted
  • a coiled power line (43) is extended from the front portion of the handle and the line is attached to a lamp (50) that a case (51) protects This case provides a bonding (20) for the main body of the retractor when attached Also it forms a lighting circuit with a battery (41), switch (42) and a power line (43)
  • the figure illustrates the main body of the retractor used, and each indicates the general foundations of the main bodies of retractors for facial, mandible, and breast Therefore, this device can be applied to retractors for other purposes
  • a grip ( 10) elevates attractive force on the retractor it should be easy to handle and designed convenient to use As it is combined with the main body of the retractor each portion establishes an independent retractor
  • An irregular structure connects the main body of the retractor and a grip And as needed, it replaces the position of retractor to be used in various ways
  • the simplest method for assembling would be a form with a gear on forehead of each retractor
  • On the front of the grip make a groove (72), which combines the gear and additional stopper (73), such as screw, should be provided for maintaining the linkage
  • Gears explained above are placed on the main part of each retractor and make a connection by fitting them in grooves on a grip A little force needs to be applied to replacement process, pulling out them to adjust to an appropriate shape
  • Stopper (73) minimizes chance for each element's falling off In most case attractive force affects on a direction of the grip within 45degree, detachment rarely occurs when the force is applied on a device. With little friction between gear and grooves, stopper becomes reliable.
  • a lamp for the lighting is extended outward to operate at the most moderate position to secure the visual rage of the retractor. It can be replaced by a magnet (21) attached to a case and the main body of the retractor.
  • the structure of the lighting explained above and a grip themselves construct exterior lighting system. And it can be utilized with pre-existing retractor or mirrors that does not have complimentary lighting source. In other words, by extending the lamp from the retractors and mirrors, it can be used as external lighting device, as well as preventing extra expenses on additional lighting equipment.
  • 44 indicates 'automatic coiler for extended line' installed in a grip for collecting of extended power lines (43). The power automatically shut down when not in use and lines should be pulled out in use.
  • Figure 6 and 7 illustrate a demonstration of a lamp and power lines installed interior to the retractor.
  • At the junction of a grip and retractor inside power gets connected at the same moment of an assembling of the exterior parts.
  • connection does not require expensive exterior lighting devices It also suggests an improvement having a light on a handle that ensures easier attachment to complimentary devices Furthermore, it is possibly equipped with the replaceable retractor to share a grip with lighting Also we do not exclude the possibility of unification with various surgical devices, such as retractors for breast, nose, mandibular angle, and also a mirror upon request
  • Fig 4 the main body of retractor and profile of a grip cut-off
  • Facial retractor 62 mandibular retractor
  • This inventory can be practiced for simple examination and consultation. Also it is effectively used for the surgery dependent on outer lighting sources. Especially when attached to a retractor, lighting and tracing works out simultaneously to ensure the visual range for the operations. However, this device is very convenient to use in a small space.
