- the two members are bolted at a single position rather than at multiple positions as was the practice in the prior art. In the prior art, shear strength requirements dictated the need for multiple bolts, which limited the flexibility of the joint.
- the invention Whilst the invention has been illustrated with reference to the bolting together of an apex plate and the top chord of a truss, the invention is equally applicable to other members such as the bolting of the top chord and bottom chord at the eave line. In the prior art, the top and bottom chords were bolted together at multiple locations via an eave plate. In contrast, the present invention allows direct connection via a single bolt.
