Definitions
- the invention relates to a multimedia box for playing music and or video tracks with a mass storage in which the data for each track is stored, with an operating unit for selecting certain tracks and with a playback unit, via which the data of a selected track an amplifier - Speaker unit and / or a monitor can be supplied.
- the object of the invention is therefore to create a multimedia box of the type specified at the outset, in which the user can quickly select the desired title even with a very large number of available titles.
- Another object is to provide a method for playing music and / or video titles of this multimedia box.
- the solution according to the invention provides an additional memory in which an artist list is stored and in which each title is assigned to a specific artist.
- a display unit is provided on which at least a selection of artists and the title associated with an artist can be displayed, it being possible to use the control unit to switch between the artist or the title.
- the additional memory it is thus possible to display the titles on the display unit depending on a specific artist.
- the user will be interested in a particular artist and can then select the tracks that the artist has stored in the respective jukebox.
- artists in the sense of the invention can also be any other order criteria, such as Covers, titles A ... Z, Top 20, Oidies, Rock or with videos science fiction, crime novels etc. Since the artist or titles can be switched using the keyboard, the control unit can be operated with very few keys and thus clearly be designed.
- the mass storage will usually consist of compact discs and the additional storage of semiconductor chips. However, it is also possible for the mass storage device to consist of a conventional hard disk or else of semiconductor chips.
- the control unit is preferably designed in the form of a keyboard.
- operation by means of a so-called touch screen is also possible, with no additional buttons outside the screen being necessary.
- the playback unit consists of a microprocessor and a DA converter.
- the microprocessor will always be required as a control unit to control the individual units.
- additional classification criteria are added in addition to the artist list.
- a category list can be stored in the additional memory, which in turn serves as an order criterion for the interpreters, so that each artist is assigned a category.
- Possible categories can be rock, title length, mood, oidies etc.
- the control unit can be used to switch between the categories, the category selected in each case being able to be displayed on the screen.
- a method for playing music and / or video titles of the multimedia box according to the invention consists of the features of claim 8.
- the interpreters are therefore advanced on the screen with the control unit until the selected artist appears. Then the control unit continues to advance the titles based on the selected artist on the screen until the selected title appears. Finally, the data of the selected title are fed to a playback unit by actuating the control unit.
- the selected title is copied into a play list displayed on the screen if the data of another title is already being played by the playback unit.
- FIG. 1 shows the schematic structure of the music box according to the invention
- Fig. 6 shows a first embodiment of the keyboard placement and Fig. 7 shows a second embodiment of the keyboard placement.
- Fig. 1 shows the schematic structure of the music box according to the invention.
- the basic structure of the jukebox consists of a keyboard 1, a control unit 8 and a screen 11.
- the mass storage device in which the data for each track is stored, and the playback unit, via which the data of a selected track of an amplifier are stored, are not shown.
- Speaker unit are fed.
- the keyboard 1 has a keypad 18, consisting of horizontal advance keys 2, 3 and vertical advance keys 4, 5. In the middle of the keypad 18 there is a select key 6. In addition, an additional key 7 is provided on the edge of the keyboard.
- the control unit 8 consists of a conventional computer 9 and an additional memory 10 in which the music tracks, the artists and the categories are stored in the form of a database.
- the screen 11 consists of 4 function fields, namely a selection bar within a category 12, a category bar 14, a title bar 15 and a play bar 16.
- the selection bar within a category consists of a display of lined up images depending on the selected category.
- this functional field acts on the operator like an endless film strip, which he can move to the left or right using the advance buttons 2, 3.
- the number of images lined up is determined by the offer of the respective artist in the music box. Seven images are displayed at a time, with the current artist image 13 being shown as enlarged with a magnifying glass.
- a number of categories are offered in the category bar 14, which can be activated by pressing a button, as a result of which the music offering can be offered in a correspondingly sorted manner.
- Category bar 14 can be "scrolled”. Then the direction buttons are pressed to select artist and title within the selected category. The sorting activated in this way is highlighted by a bright bar. Categories or sorting options can be, for example, style, top hits, title length and mood.
- the title bar 15 lists the titles which are assigned to the respective artist image 13 in the database. By using the advance buttons 4, 5 you can "scroll" through the title bar. Up to ten title names with the associated titles are displayed at the same time, with the title to be selected highlighted with a light bar.
- Fig. 2 shows the workflow for selecting the next category.
- the additional key 7 is actuated.
- the computer 9 receives the information that the additional key has been pressed.
- the data of the current category are then fetched from the additional memory.
- the current category bar 25 scrolls down one field and the current category is marked in the category bar 14.
- a new selection bar 12 then appears on the screen 11.
- Fig. 3 shows the workflow for selecting the next artist.
- the advance buttons 2, 3 are operated, whereby in step 32 the information is forwarded to the control unit 8 or the computer 9.
- the corresponding data (artist name, artist image and all artist titles) are fetched from the additional memory in step 33.
- the control unit 8 also causes the artist bar 12 to move to the left or scrolls to the right and the current artist image 13 is shown enlarged.
- the artist's new titles are displayed in title bar 15.
- Fig. 4 shows the workflow for selecting the next title of the current artist.
- the advance buttons 4, 5 are actuated, which is registered in step 42 by the control unit 8 or the computer 9.
- the corresponding data (playing time, category) of the title are fetched from the additional memory 10.
- steps 44, 45 the title bar in the title bar 15 scrolls up and down a title bar at the same time and the new current title is marked.
- Fig. 5 shows the workflow for playing a selected title.
- the select key 6 is actuated.
- this is registered by the control unit 8 or the computer 9.
- the selected title is copied into the play area. If the title is on the first play area, the music data is fetched from the mass storage device, which is not shown in detail.
- the selected title is displayed in the play bar 16 at the same time.
- Fig. 6 shows a first embodiment of the keyboard placement.
- the keyboard 1 consists of a touch panel 18 and a category key 7.
- the keyboard 1 is arranged below a screen 11, the screen 11 having a category bar 14 that can be advanced via the category key 7.
- the keyboard 1 is arranged directly under the screen 11, the category key 7 being located in the immediate vicinity of the category bar 14.
- the keyboard is divided into two keyboard fields 70 and 73.
- the keypad 73 only comprises the keypad 18 and is arranged below the screen 11.
- the keyboard field 70 is in turn immediately to the right of the screen 11 arranged close to the category bar 14 and consists of two forward buttons 71 and 72.
