Definitions
- the present invention relates, in general, to advertising sheets, such as handbills or catalogues, and, more particularly, to an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect, the effect being capable of selectively exposing latent colors to the eyes in accordance with an angle of vision, with a plurality of hemispherical embossments having a convex lens shape and being made of a transparent epoxy resin or an ultraviolet resin and being formed on halftone dots formed by overlap of the three primary color dots, or red, blue and yellow dots, and black dots on a printed layer, thus allowing the latent colors of the halftone dots to be selectively exposed to the eyes in accordance with an angle of vision and allowing the advertising sheet to have a shiny color presentation effect at the embossments, and improving the advertising effect.
- advertising sheets such as handbills or catalogues, are printed with specifically designed figures, symbols and/or characters inducing customers to buy goods for sale or exciting customers' interest, or making the goods for sale generally known.
- Such advertising sheets are conventionally printed in various colors in an effort to accomplish the above- mentioned objects. That is, figures of goods for sale are conventionally printed on the advertising sheets in the same color as that of the goods, while characters to be particularly emphasized are printed in a color prominently different from the background color so as to show the emphasized sign.
- Such a color print for advertising sheets is accomplished by using the three primary colors along with black. Of course, the three primary colors are red, yellow and blue.
- the three primary colors, or red, yellow and blue, and black may be exclusively used or may be selectively mixed together to produce a variety of desired colors other than the above three primary colors and black.
- a great number of dots of the three primary colors and black are respectively and regularly dotted on a base sheet along matrixes having different angles as shown in Fig. 1. That is, the black dots D are dotted to form an inclined matrix arranged at an inclination angle of 45°, the blue dots B are dotted to form an inclined matrix arranged at an inclination angle of 15°, the red dots A are dotted to form an inclined matrix arranged at an inclination angle of 75°, and the yellow dots C are dotted to form an upright matrix arranged at an angle of 90°.
- the selected color is dotted on the sheet to form a predetermined dot matrix.
- the desired color is produced by appropriately and selectively mixing at least two of the three primary colors and black together.
- a great number of dots in yellow C and blue B are dotted on a base sheet so as to be partially overlapped as shown in Fig. 2, thus allowing a person to recognize the mixed color as green.
- a great number of dots in red A and blue B are formed on the sheet so as to be overlapped, thus producing the desired violet color.
- a variety of colors may be produced by selectively mixing the three primary colors and black together during a color printing process.
- an object of the present invention is to provide an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect, the effect being capable of selectively exposing latent colors while accomplishing a shiny color presentation effect in accordance with an angle of vision, with a plurality of hemispherical embossments having a convex lens shape and being made of a transparent epoxy resin or an ultraviolet resin and being formed on a printed layer at halftone dots formed by overlap of the three primary color dots and black dots, thus allowing the latent colors of the halftone dots to be selectively exposed to the eyes in accordance with an angle of vision and allowing the advertising sheet to have a shiny color presentation effect at the embossments and exciting customers' interest, and improving the advertising effect while reducing the manufacturing cost of the advertising sheets .
- Fig. 1 is a view, showing conventional arrangements of primary color dots, or black dots D, blue dots B, red dots A, and yellow dots C, dotted on sheets at different matrix angles in the prior art;
- Fig. 2 is a view, showing an overlapped arrangement of the yellow dots C and the blue dots B printed on one sheet so as to produce green
- Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showing an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect in accordance with the primary embodiment of the present invention
- Fig. 4 is a sectional view, showing the sectioned structure of the advertising sheet of Fig. 3;
- Fig. 5 is a sectional view, showing the sectioned structure of an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention
- Fig. 6 is a sectional view, showing the sectioned structure of an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect in accordance with the third embodiment of the present invention.
- Fig. 3 is a perspective view of an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect in accordance with the primary embodiment of this invention.
- Fig. 4 shows the sectioned structure of the advertising sheet of Fig. 3.
- Fig. 5 shows the sectioned structure of an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect according to the second embodiment of this invention.
- Fig. 6 shows the sectioned structure of an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect according to the third embodiment of this invention.
- a printed layer 2 including advertising figures, images, characters, and/or symbols, is formed on a base sheet 6, such as paper or board, thus forming a desired advertising sheet 1 of the primary embodiment.
- the sizes of the three primary color dots and black dots on the printed layer 2 are not equal to each other, and in the same manner, the numbers of the color dots are not equal to each other. That is, the size and number of the color dots are different from each other in accordance with colors close to both the three primary colors and black. Therefore, the size of the embossments 3 on the halftone dots is changed in accordance with the size and/or number of the halftone dots.
- the size of both the three primary color dots and the black dots on the advertising images of the printed layer 2 is larger than that of the color dots on the background area of the printed layer 2, with the embossments 3 being limitedly formed at the halftone dots within the area on the images.
- a thin coated layer 4, made of a transparent epoxy resin or an ultraviolet resin is formed on the upper surface of the printed layer 2 as shown in Fig. 5.
- a plurality of wells 5 are formed on the coated layer 4 at positions around the halftone dots and individually seat an embossment 3 thereon.
- the advertising sheet 1 of this embodiment yields the same operational effect expected from the advertising sheet 1 of the primary embodiment.
- the base sheet 6 is made of a transparent plastic material, with a printed layer 2 being formed on the lower surface of the base sheet 6 as shown in Fig. 6.
- the advertising sheet 1 of this embodiment yields the same operational effect expected from the advertising sheet 1 of the primary embodiment.
- the thin coated layer 4 or the plastic sheet 6 may be made of a transparent ultraviolet resin. In such a case, it is possible to protect the color of the printed layer 2 formed on the sheet 6 from ultraviolet rays and to prevent the color of the layer 2 from being undesirably changed.
- a color-printed layer 2 including advertising figures, images, characters, and/or symbols, is formed on a base sheet 6, such as paper or board, thus forming the advertising sheet 1 of the primary embodiment.
- the three primary colors, or red A, blue B and yellow C as basic colors are mixed together along with black, thus producing the desired color meeting the printed images.
- Such a mixing of the colors produces a variety of colors by appropriately changing both the dot matrix angles and the sizes of the color dots.
- the images may be printed in a color, such as green, violet or light pink, other than the three primary colors, or red A, yellow C and blue B, and black D.
- a desired color is produced by selectively and appropriately mixing the three primary colors and black together.
- a great number of dots of the three primary colors and black are respectively and regularly dotted on a base sheet along matrixes having different angles as described for Fig. 1, with the black dot matrix of an inclination angle of 45°, the blue dot matrix of an inclination angle of 15°, the red dot matrix of an inclination angle of 75°, and the yellow dot matrix of an angle of 90°.
- a desired color close to one of the three primary colors and black When it is necessary to produce a desired color close to one of the three primary colors and black, the mixing of the primary colors is performed with large dots of the base primary color and small dots of the other primary color (s) .
- a desired color other than the three primary colors and black is produced by overlap of dot matrixes of selected primary colors.
- the hemispherical embossments 3 are formed on the printed layer 2 at the halftone dots formed by overlap of the three primary color dots and black dots. Therefore, the latent colors of the halftone dots are refracted by the embossments 3, thus being exposed to the eyes in accordance with an angle of vision. This allows a person to differently recognize the background color from the latent color exposed to the eyes through the embossments 3. Therefore, the latent color, or one of the primary colors, is exposed to the eyes while shining in accordance with an angle of vision, thus accomplishing a desired color presentation effect.
- the sizes of the primary color dots on the printed layer 2 are not equal to each other, and in the same manner, the numbers of the primary color dots are not equal to each other.
- the size and number of the primary color dots are different from each other in accordance with a basic color of the three primary colors and black used for producing a desired color.
- the size and number of the basic primary color dots for the desired color are larger than that of the other primary color dots.
- the size, number and interval of the embossments 3, formed on the halftone dots are controlled in accordance with a desired image effect.
- the size of the three primary color dots and black dots on the advertising images of the printed layer 2 is larger than that of the color dots on the background area of the printed layer 2, with the embossments 3 being limitedly formed at the halftone dots within the area on the images.
- the advertising sheet 1 of this invention specifically shows a desired color presentation effect at the embossments 3.
- embossments 3 When such embossments 3 are limitedly formed within an area to be specifically emphasized on the printed layer 2, the embossments 3 accomplish a desired presentation effect at the emphasized area, thus exciting customers' interest and improving the advertising effect.
- the embossments 3 are more heightened from the printed layer 2 than that of the primary embodiment, thus having an increased refractive index and more effectively accomplishing a desired color presentation effect.
- the printed layer 2 is formed on the lower surface of the transparent plastic base sheet 6, and so it is possible to more effectively prevent the layer 2 from being undesirably removed from the sheet 6.
- the thin coated layer 4 or the plastic sheet 6 may be made of a transparent ultraviolet resin. In such a case, the color of the printed layer 2 may be more effectively protected from ultraviolet rays by the layer 4 or the sheet 6. This finally prevents the color of the layer 2 from being undesirably changed.
- the present invention provides an advertising sheet with a latent color presentation effect.
- the effect is for selectively exposing latent colors while accomplishing a shiny color presentation effect in accordance with an angle of vision.
- a plurality of hemispherical embossments having a convex lens shape and being made of a transparent epoxy resin or an ultraviolet resin, are formed on a printed layer of the sheet at halftone dots formed by overlap of the three primary color dots and black dots, thus allowing one of the latent primary colors to be selectively exposed to the eyes through the embossments while shining in accordance with an angle of vision.
- the advertising sheet thus has a desired shiny color presentation effect at the embossments and excites customers' interest, thereby improving the advertising effect.
- such a latent color presentation effect is easily and effectively accomplished by forming the embossments on the halftone dots through a screen printing process and yields the same effect expected from a conventional advertising sheet using transparent glass or plastic particles sprayed on the printed layer. This finally reduces the manufacturing cost of the advertising sheets, allowing such effective advertising sheets to be produced on a large scale.
