Abstract

On décrit une excavatrice (1) qui inclut une source de fluide de coupe pressurisée (2) communiquant avec une sortie (3) adaptée pour pulvériser le fluide de coupe (non représenté dans les dessins) de manière à déblayer la matière (4) adjacente à la sortie. L'excavatrice (1) inclut également un moyen d'aspiration (5) disposé de manière à aspirer les détritus (non représentés dans les dessins) provenant de ladite matière et les dégager de la sortie (3). Dans une forme de réalisation préférée, le fluide de coupe est l'eau ou inclut de l'eau. Dans une autre forme de réalisation préférée, le fluide de coupe est l'air ou inclut de l'air. La pression à laquelle le fluide de coupe est pulvérisé depuis la sortie (3) varie en fonction de la résistance de la matière à déblayer. Par exemple, la pression requise pour déblayer du béton, du bitume ou de la roche est généralement plus élevée que celle nécessaire pour dégager du sable ou de la terre. Si le fluide de coupe est l'eau, la forme de réalisation préférée met généralement en oeuvre des pressions dépassant 2000 psi. Un domaine de pression préféré se situe entre 3000 et 40000 psi ou, mieux encore, entre 4000 et 20000 psi. Selon l'invention, le procédé d'excavation préféré consiste à: a) se procurer une source de fluide de coupe pressurisée (2) communiquant avec une sortie (3) adaptée pour pulvériser le fluide de coupe (non représenté dans les dessins); b) pulvériser le fluide de coupe à partir de ladite sortie (3) de manière à déblayer la matière (4) adjacente à ladite sortie (3); et c) mettre en oeuvre un moyen d'aspiration disposé à proximité de la sortie pour aspirer les détritus provenant de ladite matière et les dégager de la sortie (3).
