Es ist außerordentlich aufwendig, ausgedehnte Produktionshallen so zu betreiben, daß im gesamten Hallenbereich hohe oder höchste Reinheitsgrade der Hallenatmosphäre gewährleistet sind. Zur Verminderung des zu treibenden Aufwandes ist man daher in den letzten Jahren verstärkt dazu übergegangen, die Bereiche, in denen derartig hohe Anforderungen an die Kontaminationsfreiheit des Produktionsgeschehens gestellt werden, möglichst weitgehend einzugrenzen, d.h. möglichst auf die unmittelbare Umgebung einer Arbeitsstation, also den eigentlichen Arbeitsraum der jeweiligen Anlage zu beschränken. Da es vielfach notwendig ist, während der Produktion mehrere Arbeitsstationen zu durchlaufen, muß selbstverständlich auch der Transport der jeweils zu behandelnden Objekte zwischen den einzelnen Stationen ebenfalls unter den jeweils erforderlichen strengen Bedingungen hinsichtlich des atmosphärischen Reinheitsgrades erfolgen.
