Nachteilig dabei ist, daß durch die Benutzer diese Schoner in der Regel von der Matte weggetreten werden oder auch nur so verschoben werden, daß sie den nachfolgenden Benutzern nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen. Bei einer derart ausgebildeten Fußmatte ist auf einfache und sehr effektive Art und Weise sichergestellt, daß der Schoner auch jeweils voll für die Abreinigung der Schuhe zur Verfügung steht, wenn dies aufgrund der Wettergegebenheiten notwendig ist. Ist er verschmutzt, kann er leicht vom Vorleger abgenommen und beispielsweise wie ein Aufnehmer gereinigt werden, indem er in einen Wassereimer eingetaucht und dann mehrmals ausgewrungen wird. Wichtig ist dabei, daß er sowohl von der Form her wie auch von den Aufnahmeeigenschaften her auch größte Verschmutzungen sicher aufnehmen und zurückhalten kann, so daß es für die Hausfrau und die sonstigen Eigentümer sichergestellt ist, daß dieser lästige Schmutz erst gar nicht in die Räume mit hineingelangt. Übliche Fußmatten aus Kokos, Stroh u. ä. strapazierfähigem Material sind aufgrund ihrer Materialeigenschaften nicht geeignet, feuchten oder auch nur klebrigen Schmutz zurückzuhalten. Sie können zwar diesen Schmutz vom Schuh abnehmen, wenn dieser über sie hinwegbewegt wird, doch spritzt dann der Schmutz mehr oder weniger weit von der Matte weg und muß auf sonstige geeignete Weise dann aufgesammelt werden. Ist die Verunreinigung so weit fortgeschritten, daß eine Reinigung erforderlich ist, so wird einfach der Klettverschluß beispielsweise geöffnet, der Vorleger aus dem Schutzmantel herausgezogen und dann gereinigt, entweder in der Waschmaschine oder aber durch entsprechendes Eintauchen und Aus wringen in einem Wassereimer. Insbesondere die letztgenannte Reinigungsweise hat den großen Vorteil, daß sie praktisch am Liegeort der Fußmatte und sehr schnell vorgenommen werden kann.
