Abstract

The fire protection device for vehicles according to the present invention consists of a container (1) of different shapes and dimensions, fixed with suitable brackets in the motor compartment or in other internal housings, comprising inside a hot generated aerosol consisting of perfectly homogeneous potassium carbonate K2CO3, dispersed in a current of carbon dioxide CO2, and that can immediately anul a fire beginning with the automatic or hand drive emission of the content thereof that takes the place - at a level of relative density - of the air and therefore of burning oxygen, with all the efficiency of the carbonate which is extremely active due to its extremely low granulometry.

Description

"A FIRE PROTECTION DEVICE FOR VEHICLES"
The present invention concerns a fire protection device for vehicles of any kind: civil, public or military.
The present invention arises from the considerable need of putting out a fire on board of vehicles, preventing it from spreading out and developing, preferably in a n automatic way.
The aim set forth is reached by means of the device according to the present invention, consisting of a container of different shapes and dimesions, fixed with suitable brackets in the motor compartment or in other internal housings, comprising inside a heat generated aerosol consisting of perfectly homogeneous potassium carbonate Kj CO^ , dispersed in a current of carbon dioxide CO2 , and that can immediately anul a fire beginning with the automatic or hand drive emission of the content thereof that takes the place - at a livel of relative density - of the air and therefor of burning oxygen, with all the efficiency of the carbonate which is extremely active due to its extremely low granulometry.
Said device allows to insert the delivery of the extinguishing material in the feeding lines of combustion, obtaining the relative blocking thereof with only that quantity of material necessary for its inhibition. The diametral dimension of the grains - about 8 micron - allows them to remain in suspension in the C0 emission gas for very long periods.
The further advantages of the device according to the present invention may be described as follows:
- the aerosol production is flexible in time, and possibly it may have a controlled delivery pressure;
- the prime may occur due to an electric contact as well as due to a flame conduction by means of special thermic ropes that may be adjusted in speed and sensibility to the ignition temperature, which may also be lower than 200°C in extremely low thermic inertia condition;
- the device according to the present invention may be used as a producer of inert gas for mechanic foams, for replacing the heavy gas bottles defective for a push irregularity;
- producing a carbonate of exothermic formation, absolutely anhydrous, the device according to the present invention may be used on electric equipments without any risk of conduction due to electrolytic phenomena of the potassium salt.
The present invention will be explained more in detail hereinbelow relating to the enclosed figure 1 , in which a partial square section scheme of the fire protection de- vice for vehicles according to the present invention is shown.
The enclosed figure shows a fire protection device for vehicles comprising a containing structure 1 of shapes and dimensions corresponding to the needs, surmounted by the poles 2 of the electric control in correspondence with the uper closing 3, inside which the extinguishing mixture 4 is contained, consisting of heat generated aerosol, in turn composed of perfectly homogeneous potassium carbonate K^CO- (0+10 micron), that will be dispersed in the carbon dioxide CO^ gas 5 through an activator 6, so as to come out towards the fire beginning.
Once the emission of aerosol has been activated, the already directed flow will be inserted into the combustion convention reaching the core thereof with extreme precision and exerting thereon all the efficienty of the carbonate, which is extremely active due to its own extremely low granulometry.
The operating of the device according to the present invetion may be obtained also by a heat surveyor, besides automatic and manual operating with a switch control.
If inserted in the motor compartment or in other parts of the vehicle, the device starts at the beginning of a fire, anulling it immediately without any damage to mechanic parts or other.
In possible variants, the device according to the present invention may also be inserted inside different structures like electric cabins, managing boards, centrals or similar.
