Description

INSTRUMENT CHRONOMETRIQUE A LECTURE SENSITIVE CHRONOMETRIC INSTRUMENT WITH SENSITIVE READING
The present invention relates to a chronometric instrument, of the watch, clock, pendulum type, intended more particularly for the blind or visually impaired. It relates more particularly to such a device for sensitive reading of hours and minutes in Braille.
There are watches, with tactile reading, for the blind which, in addition to conventional hands for indication of hours and minutes, elements in relief relative to the dial allowing the location of said hands relative to said dial to be identified. The major drawback of this type of chronometric instrument lies in the difficulty of locating both the hour and minute hands when they are substantially superimposed. This difficulty is resolved by document FR.844.588 which proposes a chronometric instrument comprising two dials, one with an hour hand and the other with a minute hand. Despite this improvement, there remains the risk for the user when he moves his finger on the dial to read the time by touch to move one or the other of the hands. The electromagnetic watch with sensitive reading proposed by document EP.522.644 overcomes this drawback, insofar as the sensitive reading is no longer carried out using indicator needles but using cylinders the lower part of which is fixed to internal blades which are designed to be operated by electromagnets in order to raise or lower said cylinders through holes made in two separate reading zones. In operation the hours are marked in the first zone and the minutes, with an interval of five minutes, in the second zone. In each zone are provided four holes for the actuation of four cylinders, the projecting position of all or part of the cylinders of a given zone allowing, thanks to a particular codification described in this document EP.522.644, read the time for the first zone and each five minutes for the second zone. This codification, based on an adequate distribution of the four studs, corresponds to a combination totaling twelve possibilities. According to the applicant, this watch nevertheless presents two drawbacks for the user, namely to learn this new code and to lack precision concerning the reading of the minutes.
The aim set by the applicant is to propose a chronometric instrument, of the watch, clock or pendulum type, which overcomes the aforementioned drawbacks.
This object is perfectly achieved by the chronometric instrument with sensitive reading, of which, in a manner known by document EP.522.644, the dial has holes, distributed in reading zones, and four reading pads per zone which can be actuated in height, through said holes, between a first extended position and a second retracted position where they are respectively above and at or below the surface of the dial.
Characteristically according to the invention, the chronometric instrument comprises two groups of two distinct and adjacent zones, the first group for reading the hours and the second for reading the minutes, and in each group the first zone for reading the tens and the second for reading the units; moreover, it includes, for each zone, a mechanism for actuating the height of the pads, controlled to allow an encrypted reading of the hours and minutes in Braille language.
In a preferred embodiment, the four studs of a given area having a substantially square arrangement, the actuation mechanism in height of the studs comprises a rotary disc whose axis of rotation is offset from the center of symmetry of the area and which has four concentric tracks with portions in relief so that the lower part of each stud is applied to at least the raised portion (s) of a given track during the rotation of the disc, the corresponding stud adopting the first extended position or the second retracted position when its portion low applies or not on a raised portion.
According to this particular arrangement, the actuation in height of the pads is carried out not by electromechanical means using a blade / electromagnet system for each pad but thanks to a unique mechanical means which allows, during its rotation, to simultaneously activate the four pads of the same zone.
Advantageously, each stud is naturally held in the second retracted position by the action of a spring applying on the one hand to the internal face of the dial and on the other hand to a shoulder formed on the stud. When the stud passes over a raised portion of the track which is devoted to it, the spring compresses and the stud protrudes by a few tenths of a millimeter, preferably of the order of 0.5mm, above the outer face of the dial.
Advantageously, there is substantially no contact between the track and the lower part of the stud when the stud is held in the retracted position by the spring. More precisely, the spacing between the track in the portions which are not in relief and the external face of the dial is determined so that the upper part of the stud is substantially flush with the external face of the dial while the lower part of the stud has no or very little contact with the bottom of the track dedicated to it. This makes it possible to avoid as much as possible the friction of the lower part of the stud with the track when the stud is in the retracted position.
Advantageously, the lower part of the stud applying at least on the raised portions of the track is constituted by a bearing.
This particular provision aims to minimize the friction forces between said lower part and the track and in particular reduce the possible wear of the raised portions of the latter. Preferably the rotary discs are rotated at the rate of one rotation for twelve hours for the first and the second disc corresponding to the two zones of the first group, a rotation in one hour for the third disc corresponding to the first zone of the second group and a rotation for ten minutes for the fourth disc corresponding to the second zone of the second group.
Advantageously, each of these discs is moved by a spring and gear drive device conventional in watchmaking.
The present invention will be better understood on reading the description which will be given of a preferred embodiment of a watch with sensitive reading in Braille illustrated by the appended drawing in which:
FIGS. 2 and 3 are schematic sectional representations of the system for improving the height of the studs, with the studs taken out in FIG. 2 and the stud retracted in FIG. 3.
- et la figure 4 est une représentation schématique en plan des quatre disques à piste concentrique permettant l'actionnement en hauteur des plots.- And Figure 4 is a schematic plan view of the four discs with concentric track for actuation of the pads height.
In accordance with the general principle of the invention, watch 1 illustrated in FIG. 1 has a dial 2 which comprises four sensitive reading zones, grouped into two groups of two zones respectively the first group 7 of the two zones 3, 4 for reading hours and the second group 8 of the two zones 5, 6 for reading the minutes. In each group 7, 8 the first area respectively 3.5 relates to the reading of the tens and the second area respectively 4.6 the reading of the units.
In each zone, the dial 2 is pierced with four holes 9 in which four studs 1 0 are provided, actuatable in height by an internal mechanism, placed under the dial and making it possible to move each stud enters a first extended position in which the stud 10 projects above the external face 2a of the dial 2 and a second retracted position in which the stud 1 0 is substantially flush with the external face 2a of the dial 2. These two positions are illustrated respectively in Figure 2 for the extended position and by Figure 3 for the retracted position.
L'utilisateur pourra lire en Braille sur la montre de la figure 1 qu'il est 1 OhO8.By scanning with finger the external surface 2a of the dial 2, from left to right, the user passes his finger first over the first group 7 of the two zones 3, 4 for reading the hours, then over the second group 8 of the two zones 5.6 minutes reading. The actuation mechanism in height of the pads 1 0 is controlled, as a function of time, so that the pads in the extended position give in each zone the corresponding figure in Braille. By way of example in FIG. 1, the studs 10 are shown in the hatched out position, compared to the studs in the retracted position which are left blank. The user can read in Braille on the watch in Figure 1 that it is 1 OhO8.
In order for the user to be able to perceive the studs 1 0 in the extended position, it is preferable for the upper part 1a of the stud 10 to protrude above the external face 2a of the dial 2 by a height e_of the order 0.5mm.
The arrangement of the pads, in each zone, is a substantially square arrangement, in accordance with that provided for the representation of the numbers in Braille. FIGS. 2 and 3 show a mechanism for actuating the studs 1 0 in height. This mechanism comprises, under the internal face 2b of the dial 2 and arranged under the stud 1 0, a surface, mounted in rotation, and having raised portions. More precisely, in the version which will now be described, this surface consists of a disc 1 1, a plane locally presenting raised portions 1 2. The upper faces 1 1 a and 1 2a respectively of the disc 1 1 and raised portions are parallel to the external 2a and internal 2b faces of the dial 2.
Le diamètre extérieur du plot 1 0 est légèrement inférieur au diamètre intérieur du prolongement cylindriqueThe stud 1 0 is a cylindrical piece whose outside diameter is slightly less than the inside diameter of the hole 9. This hole 9 is extended beyond there internal face 2b of the dial 2 by an equally cylindrical extension 13. The outside diameter of the stud 1 0 is slightly less than the inside diameter of the cylindrical extension
1 3. La partie basse 1 0b du plot 1 0 comporte un épaulement annulaire1 3. The lower part 1 0b of the stud 1 0 has an annular shoulder
The lower part 1 Ob of the stud 1 0 is equipped with a bearing 1 5, rotating around its axis
A tension spring 1 7 is mounted between the internal face 2b of the dial 2 and the annular shoulder 14 of the lower part 1 Ob of the stud 10.
Comme cela ressort explicitement de l'examen des figures 2 etAs is evident from the examination of Figures 2 and
If it is in contact with a raised portion 1 2 (FIG. 2), the spring 1 7 is compressed and the upper part 1 Oa of the stud 1 0 protrudes above the external face 2a of the dial 2. In the opposite case, that is to say when the bearing 1 5 is in contact with the external face 1 1 a of the disc 1 1, the spring 1 7 is relaxed and the upper part 1 Oa of the stud 1 0 is substantially flush with the external face 2a of the dial 2.
The two figures 2 and 3 illustrate the two positions taken out (figure 2) and re-entered (figure 3) that each of the studs can adopt when the disc 1 1 rotates.
The presence of the bearing 1 5 aims to limit the friction on the raised portions 1 2 so as to avoid wear of these over time. The mounting of the spring 1 7 on the annular shoulder 14 can be designed so that in the relaxed position (Figure 3) of the spring 1 7, the bearing 1 5 is not in contact or has only a very contact reduced with the external face 1 1 a of the disc 1 1 so as again to reduce the frictional forces.
In addition, for construction facilities, these are the portions 1 1 a which may optionally be formed by recessed portions with respect to the discs whose external face would be constituted by the raised portions 1 2.
Each disc 1 1 is provided with four concentric tracks each intended to actuate in height each of the four pads of the same area, according to the operation which has just been explained above.
For the first group 7 of the two zones 3, 4 reading the hours, the corresponding rotating disc is rotated at the rate of one rotation for twelve hours. On the disc corresponding to the first zone 3 (reading tens of hours) the raised portions 1 2 of the concentric tracks 1 8 are designed so that the studs represent in Braille the number O until the expiration of the ninth hour then the number 1 until the expiration of the eleventh 1 1. In Figure 4 there is shown in solid lines the raised portions of each concentric track and in dotted lines the other portions.
Le disque 1 1 correspondant à la zone 5 est conçu pour effectuer le changement de chiffre (de O à 5) après une rotation angulaire d'angle β de 60 Le disque 1 1 correspondant à la zone 6 effectue un changement de chiffre (de O à 9) pour une rotation angulaire d'angle a de 36 XFor the disc corresponding to the second zone 4 of the first group 7 (reading of the unit hours) the change of digit (from O to 9) occurs every hour, that is to say after an angular rotation of the disc 1 1 d 'an angle a of 36 X With regard to zones 5.6 of the second group 8, for the tactile reading of the minutes, the rotation of the corresponding disks 1 1 is carried out at the rate of a rotation in one hour for the zone 5 for reading tens of minutes and at the rate of one rotation in ten minutes for zone 6 for reading unit minutes. The disc 1 1 corresponding to the zone 5 is designed to effect the change of digit (from O to 5) after an angular rotation of angle β of 60 The disc 1 1 corresponding to the zone 6 performs a change of digit (from O to 9) for an angular rotation of angle a of 36 X
The determination of the raised portions 1 2 of the four concentric tracks for a given angular displacement is relatively simple, when one knows the Braille language and that one has identified at which each pad of the substantially square arrangement corresponds to each of the concentric tracks.
La configuration des portions en relief 1 2 des quatre pistes 20 àIn the present case, the axis of rotation 18 of the rotary disc 1 1 has been offset with respect to the center of symmetry 1 9 of the substantially square arrangement of the four studs, so that the concentric tracks referenced 20 to 23 of the innermost track 20 to the outermost track 23 correspond respectively to the pad 24 at the bottom left in the Braille reading layout (track 20), at the top left 25 (track 21), at the bottom right 26 (track 22) and top right 27 (track 23). Preferably the applicant has retained a layout of the pads which is rectangular, close to the square with a distance between the alignment of two pads forming the long side of the rectangle, for example the two horizontal pads which is slightly greater, for example 1 0 at 15%, at the distance between the alignment of two studs forming the short side of the rectangle, for example of the two vertical studs; this arrangement makes it possible to have the same spacing between the tracks and a spacing which is sufficient for the formation of the raised (or hollow) portions according to each track, taking into account the presence of the bearing. The configuration of the raised portions 1 2 of the four tracks 20 to
Le mécanisme d'entraînement en rotation des quatre disques peut être un mécanisme classique dans l'horlogerie, à engrenage et ressort voire à pile.23 for the four rotary disks 1 1, allowing the actuation of the four pads 24 to 27 of each zone, for a Braille reading of the hours and minutes is, for the aforementioned example, represented in FIG. 4. Thus, from in a particularly advantageous manner, the rotation of a single rotating disc makes it possible to actuate the four studs making it possible to decline from 0 to 9 all the figures according to the reading in Braille, thanks to the particular adaptation of the raised portions of the four concentric tracks. The mechanism for rotating the four discs can be a conventional mechanism in watchmaking, with gear and spring even battery.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment which has been described by way of non-exhaustive example. In particular, the rotating surface could be a cylindrical surface with an axis of rotation parallel to the dial. Furthermore, the arrangement of the four substantially square studs referred to in the present text must be understood to be both a square arrangement and a provision which deviates slightly from the square, whether it is rectangular, trapezoidal or other.
