The synthetic strips (10) are assembled to the fabric (1) by fusion such that, after fusion, the synthetic strips and the reinforcing yarns constitute a single-piece reinforcing structure integrated in the fabric. The reinforcing elements are oriented according to the forces acting on the fabric and according to the geometrical shape of the three-dimensional fabric.
Description
The present invention relates to a synthetic fabric with directional reinforcing elements, and more particularly to a synthetic fabric comprising reinforcing elements which are constituted by synthetic ribbons which are reinforced by threads, the synthetic ribbons and the threads being assembled to the canvas by fusion.
Synthetic fabrics can be used in many fields, for example in replacement of roofs, to protect a place from bad weather and the effects of the sun. Synthetic fabrics can also be used for the manufacture of boat sails, for example. In the field of tent canvases used for exhibitions or events, the canvases are mounted on frames, which are designed to take over all the efforts, for example the efforts caused by wind or snow, the canvases used being intended only as a cover and not presenting a resistance which could make it possible to take over part of the efforts of the structure.
The design of known fabrics also has limitations from the point of view of dimension, insofar as very large fabrics can undergo very great efforts.
In order to be able to design particular and large constructions with fabrics, it is necessary that these can take part or all of the efforts, that is to say that the fabrics must include reinforcing elements which can be arranged in the direction of efforts.
Forms of execution of reinforced fabrics are known in the field of boat sails, for example, but these forms of execution have significant drawbacks. These forms of executions in fact comprise two fabrics which are intended to be assembled together by gluing, reinforcing wires being mounted between the two fabrics so as to constitute a sandwich sandwich structure. The operations of mounting and gluing the reinforcing wires, as well as the operations of assembling the whole of the composite structure, are very complicated operations which have the significant disadvantages of requiring very expensive equipment and templates, as well as very long operations. Another major drawback of the known forms of execution is the fact that they require two fabrics attached to each other which considerably increases the costs by the fact that these forms of executions double the cost of the fabrics.
In addition, these known forms of execution require very bulky equipment which is consequently difficult to move.
The aims of the present invention therefore consist in remedying the aforementioned drawbacks of the known embodiments.
The objects are achieved with the principles of the invention as defined by claim 1.
The fabric with directional reinforcing elements, according to the principles of the invention, comprises a fabric of synthetic material, for example of fluoroplast material, PVC or polyethylene. Reinforcement elements are mounted on the canvas. These reinforcing elements are constituted by extruded synthetic ribbons in which reinforcing threads are mounted during extrusion. The reinforcing threads can consist of threads of glass fibers, carbon fibers, aramid fiber or synthetic fibers, for example. The synthetic ribbons are extruded with a material identical to the material constituting the canvas. Once the mounting of each ribbon with the reinforcing threads, the ribbon is assembled to the canvas by fusion. The materials making up the canvas and the synthetic ribbons are compatible. and can therefore be assembled by fusion. Once joined together by fusion, the synthetic ribbons and the reinforcing threads constitute one-piece reinforcing elements with the canvas.
The principles of the invention have many advantages. A very important advantage is constituted by the fact that the reinforcing tapes and wires can be mounted flat and in two dimensions on the canvas. Their arrangement in two dimensions is determined by the acting forces and also determines the shape of the third dimension by elastic deformation. Another advantage is constituted by the fact that the laying of the different elements, flat, therefore in two dimensions, eliminates the need to use three-dimensional forming jigs which would be much too expensive and much too bulky to produce canvases. very large dimensions. The principles of the invention therefore make it possible to easily produce and for reduced equipment costs, reinforced fabrics which can, due to their design, take a large part of the efforts and therefore significantly reduce the costs of the annexed structures. , while also making it possible to produce shapes or designs of all kinds. The principles of the invention make it possible to eliminate all the gluing operations, which provides a significant improvement in working conditions. In addition, according to the principles of the invention, the reinforcing elements can be superimposed on each other which provides an important advantage, particularly at the corners of the fabric where several reinforcing elements converge.
The accompanying drawings illustrate schematically and by way of example the principles of the invention.
Figures 1 and 2 are respectively side and top views of a triangular fabric mounted on a frame.
Figure 3 is a sectional view of a reinforcing element shown during installation.
Figure 4 is a sectional view of a reinforcement element after fusion.
Figure 5 is a plan view of a reinforcing member.
Figures 6 and 7 are respectively sectional and plan views of overlapping reinforcing elements.
Referring first to Figures 1 and 2, a synthetic fabric 1 is mounted on a frame 2 which is supported by pillars 3, 4 and 5. According to the principles of construction shown by way of example and having a triangular fabric, part of the tensile forces are supported by the synthetic fabric which comprises reinforcing elements 7, 8 and 9 which are provided to support part of the forces. The reinforcing elements, the number of which is determined by the size of the fabric and by the magnitude of the acting forces, are arranged so as to act in the direction of the acting forces. Figures 1 and 2 are shown by way of example. The principles of the invention can be applied for all kinds of synthetic fabrics of different shapes, and also for fabrics not resting on any frame and being simply fixed to each corner.
Un fois assemblé à la toilo, chaque ruban constitue un élément de renforcement monobloc avec le toile et avec les fils de renforcement .Figures 3, 4 and 5 show in detail a reinforcing element which is constituted by reinforcing son 11 and 12, for example, which are integrated in a synthetic tape 10, during the extrusion of the tape. In practice, the synthetic ribbons are extruded with a synthetic material compatible with the material constituting the fabric, and reinforcing threads are integrated into the synthetic ribbons during extrusion. Each synthetic tape is then placed on the canvas flat and in orientations which are determined by ¬ the direction of the forces which may act on the canvas. Once the ribbon is mounted on the canvas, it is assembled to the canvas by fusion. Once assembled to the canvas, each ribbon constitutes a one-piece reinforcing element with the canvas and with the reinforcing threads.
The reinforcing threads can be made of different materials, glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber or synthetic fiber, for example.
Figures 6 and 7 show reinforcing elements which are partially superimposed on each other. All aboid of the synthetic tape 10 comprising the reinforcement wires 11, is welded by fusion on the fabric 1. Then another synthetic tape 13 which includes the reinforcement wires 14 is welded by fusion on the fabric 1 and partly on synthetic tape 10. The superimposition of reinforcing elements may be necessary on certain portions of the fabric depending on the direction of the acting forces, and this superposition also occurs in the corners of the fabric where several reinforcing elements converge. The principles of the invention make it possible to obtain very good homogeneity by the fact that, in the event of the superimposition of the reinforcing elements, each synthetic tape is welded by fusion to the lower tape.
The reinforcing elements first of all have an essential function which consists in taking charge of the forces acting on the canvas. Another important function of the reinforcing elements is that they make it possible, according to particular arrangements, to make the canvas take on particular shapes, by elastic deformation.
The fusion of the synthetic ribbons to the fabric can be obtained by various devices making it possible to heat the ribbons to the melting and assembly temperature, by direct action of the heating body or by hot air, for example.
