On extrait la décoction du réservoir (2) et on augmente la pression de la décoction, après quoi on refroidit ladite décoction dans un refroidisseur (20) à une température comprise entre la température de décoction du méthane et celle de l'azote. On ne renvoie dans le réservoir (2) que le méthane condensé. L'invention concerne également un dispositif de mise en oeuvre du procédé.
