Definitions

  • a toilet unit A toilet unit.
  • the invention relates to a toilet unit comprising a toilet bowl and a water reservoir provided with a water supply opening and a water pipe connected to the toilet bowl.
  • the toilet bowl is mounted on one side of the wall.
  • the water reservoir is mounted on the same side of the wall or on a side facing away from the toilet bowl.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a toilet unit wherein the water reservoir is hidden from view, whilst the water reservoir is readily accessible for maintenance.
  • the toilet unit in that the toilet bowl is mounted on a first side of a pivotable wall , whilst the water reservoir is mounted on a second side facing away from the toilet bowl.
  • the pivotable wall which is to be provided in a wall of the building or within an encasing, hides the water reservoir from view when occupying its closed position, whilst the water reservoir is accessible for maintenance once the wall has been pivoted to its open position.
  • the toilet unit comprises a faeces grinder, which is mounted on the second side of the pivotable wall , whereby the faeces grinder is connected to an outlet of the toilet bowl on an inlet side and can be connected to a faeces discharge channel on an outlet side.
  • Faeces supplied from the toilet bowl are ground and discharged by means of the faeces grinder.
  • a toilet unit of this type is used in places where the available faeces discharge channel has only a limited diameter.
  • the pivotable wall makes the faeces grinder, which by itself requires relatively frequent maintenance, readily accessible for such maintenance, whilst the faeces grinder is hidden from view during normal use, so that the toilet unit looks like a usual toilet unit not fitted with a faeces grinder.
  • the water reservoir and the faeces grinder can preferably be connected to a water supply channel and to a faeces discharge channel respectively by means of conduits which are extensible in length.
  • the use of conduits which are extensible in length enables pivoting of the wall with the faeces grinder and the water reservoir attached thereto, without having to break the connections between the water supply channel and the water reservoir and between the faeces discharge channel and the faeces grinder.
  • Another embodiment of the toilet unit according to the invention is characterized in that the wall is capable of pivoting movement about a vertically extending pivot axis by means of at least one hinge, which hinge is provided with means for moving the wall in one direction along the pivot axis during said pivoting movement. Since the wall is moved vertically upwards during its pivoting movement, the underside of the wall is prevented from coming into contact with possible unevennesses of a floor on which the toilet unit is placed.
  • Figure 1 is a front view of a toilet unit according to the invention in a closed position
  • FIG. 2 is a side view of the toilet unit shown in Figure 1;
  • Figure 3 is a plan view of the toilet unit shown in
  • Figure 4 is a plan view of the toilet unit of Figure 1, in a closed position thereof;
  • Figure 5 is a front view of the toilet unit shown in
  • Figure 6 is a side view of the toilet unit shown in
  • FIGS 1, 2 and 3 are a front view, a side view and a plan view respectively of a toilet unit 1 according to the invention, in a closed position thereof.
  • Toilet unit 1 comprises a rectangular construction mounted on a wall 2, which construction includes a rear wall 3 fixed to the wall of the building, a front wall 4 extending parallel thereto in spaced-apart relationship, two side walls 5 extending transversely between said front wall and said rear wall, and an upper wall 6 and a bottom wall 7 extending transversely to said front wall, said side walls and said rear wall.
  • the side walls 5 and upper wall 6 are rigidly attached to rear wall 3.
  • Bottom wall 7 is rigidly attached to front wall 4.
  • Front wall 4 is pivotably suspended, by means of hinges 8, between upper wall 6 and a lath 13 extending between the side walls near bottom wall 7.
  • the pivot axis extending through hinges 8 extends in vertical direction, transversely to a floor 9 of a space in which toilet unit 1 is disposed.
  • Front wall 4 can be secured to side wall 5 by means of Allen screws 10.
  • a toilet bowl 11 is mounted on a side of front wall 4 facing away from rear wall 3.
  • a water reservoir 12 is mounted on a side of front wall 4 facing rear wall 10.
  • a faeces grinder 14, which is known per se, is mounted on bottom wall 7, which is rigidly connected to front wall 4.
  • Faeces grinder 14 comprises an electrically driven motor, a pump and a grinding component (not shown).
  • a faeces grinder of this type is commercially available, inter alia under the name of Sani vide.
  • Water reservoir 12 is connected to a water supply channel by means of a conduit (not shown) which is extensible in length.
  • a conduit may for example be a harmonica-like conduit.
  • Water reservoir 12 is furthermore provided with a water pipe 15, which is connected to the toilet bowl 11 at one end remote from water reservoir 12.
  • the outlet 16 of toilet bowl 11 is connected, via a conduit 17 and a coupling 18, to an inlet side 19 of faeces grinder 14.
  • An outlet side of faeces grinder 14 is connected to a faeces discharge channel by means of a flexible conduit (not shown), which is extensible in length.
  • the faeces discharge channel may be a discharge pipe present in the building or a hose connected to the sewage system.
  • a recess may be provided in wall 2, into which the rectangular construction is moved until the front wall lies in the same plane as wall 2.
