Abstract

L'invention concerne une composition de revêtement de fibres optiques en verre pouvant être durcie sous l'effet d'un rayonnement et conçue pour combiner les propriétés suivantes: (i) résistance améliorée à la dégradation thermique quand elle est durcie correctement et (ii) viscosité suffisante pour constituer une surface sensiblement exempte de piqûres. Cette composition est formulée à partir de constituants comprenant: (A) au moins un monomère ou un oligomère de silicone époxy pouvant être réticulé par rayonnement actinique, ou leur mélange; (B) au moins une résine thermoplastique ne présentant pratiquement aucune réaction au rayonnement actinique, soluble ou pouvant être dispersée dans le constituant (A), ladite résine thermoplastique étant présente en quantité suffisante pour que la composition acquière une viscosité permettant de l'appliquer à une fibre optique en verre; (C) une quantité efficace sur le plan catalytique d'un photodéclencheur servant à catalyser la réaction de réticulation du constituant (A) et qui est soluble ou peut être dispersée dans le constituant (A) ou dans un mélange dudit constituant (A) et de ladite résine thermoplastique. Elle concerne également un procédé servant à préparer cette composition de revêtement, ainsi qu'une fibre optique en verre revêtue par ladite composition.
