Vers le milieu (54) de cette tige de traction, on peut fixer l'extrémité avant (53) d'un câble de traction (55) qui suit la même trajectoire que la tige, coulissant dans sa gaine fixée à l'oeillet guide et se prolongeant vers le bas jusqu'au niveau de la poitrine, des genoux ou des pieds (selon les cas), où le câble et sa gaine sont fixés séparément à un boîtier de traction ou une pédale permettant, en cas de déficience de la mâchoire ou du cou, d'actionner la cuillère grâce à une pression de la poitrine sur le bord de la table, ou des genoux entre eux ou du pied au sol, ce système permettant même,si le tampon d'appui du menton est suffisamment concave, de faire s'ouvrir la bouche en même temps qu'on actionne la cuillère. La tige de traction peut aussi être remplacée Fig.7A par un câble (38) (coulissant dans sa gaine incurvée rigide) reliant le manche de la cuillère, un peu en dessous (39) de l'axe de rotation, à un boîtier de traction (37) fixé à l'arrière du berceau de la barquette, juste sous le menton (36), l'extrémité avant de la gaine étant fixée au prolongement arrière fixe (42) dudit axe de rotation.8.
