Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à un organe de coupe servant à découper des trous de raccordement dans des tuyaux en plastique. Généralement, on effectue le raccordement de tuyaux en plastique existants à un réseau de distribution au moyen d'une sellette électro-fusible scellé audit tuyau et en descendant l'organe de coupe le long de la tige de la sellette de façon à découper un trou dans ledit tuyau et à raccorder ensuite le tuyau à un bout mâle ou à une ramification de la sellette de raccordement au réseau de distribution. La découpe du trou dans le tuyau entraîne inévitablement des fuites qui peuvent être dangereuses lorsque le tuyau transporte du gaz. Il existe des structures d'organe de coupe qui règlent le problème des fuites au moment où le tuyau est découpé mais qui ne règlent pas celui des fuites se produisant entre l'instant où l'on retire ledit organe et celui où l'on applique un bouchon à la tige. Cette invention a pour but de résoudre ce problème et pour ce faire, l'organe de coupe, objet de l'invention, possède une structure comprenant une lame cylindrique et un corps fileté attaché à la lame, ledit corps comportant une première longueur intégrale de tube, du côté opposé à la lame cylindrique, et une seconde longueur de tube faisant saillie par rapport à ladite première longueur à laquelle elle est attachée de manière amovible, de telle sorte que le raccordement entre lesdites première et seconde longueurs sert d'indicateur visuel. Ainsi, une fois que le trou a été découpé dans le tuyau, ladite seconde longueur reste en contact avec une bague d'étanchéité disposée dans la tige lors du retrait de l'organe de coupe jusqu'à ce que l'indicateur visuel indique que l'organe de coupe a été retiré avec succès. La seconde longueur exposée est alors retirée sans recours à un outil supplémentaire, le joint d'étanchéité étant maintenu contre la première longueur de tube et la fixation du bouchon assurant une protection supplémentaire contre les fuites.
