Abstract

The invention relates to an opening and locking device (10) for a skylight (12) with frame (14) and window leaf (16), with a two-section opening rod (18) whose first section (20) can be connected at one end to a window leaf (16) so as to pivot. The opening rod (18) can be fixed in a receiver element (38) on the frame (14). To create an opening and locking device suitable also for skylights with a window leaf which can close onto either side of the frame, it is proposed that the second rod section (22) should be connected to the free end of the first rod section (20) so as to pivot and slide, and that at least one abutment (44) should be provided for the second rod section (22) on the receiver element (38) to the side of the pivoting axis (36). The abutment (44) forms a point of rotation when the second rod section (22) pivots. This means that, when the second rod section (22) acting as a two-limb lever pivots, the first rod section (20) is introduced into the receiver element (38) to effect locking and the pivoted second rod section (22) can be stopped by sliding.
