That is, the catch engages the trailing peripheral edge of a recess in the wheel and is deflected upwardly by continued rotation of the wheel.

At an inner end of the stem is a shoulder 108 that cooperates with a series of cogs 110 fixed to the wheel. Each cog terminates in a face that is generally radially disposed from the axis of rotation of the wheel and, upon advancement of the ste in a direction parallel to the tangent of the wheel, the shoulder engages one of the cog faces and rotates the wheel in a counterclockwise direction, as shown. This urges the catch 80 from one of the recesses 62, as described above, until it snaps into place in the next adjacent recess. The actuating member is then returned to its position as shown in FIGURE 4 by spring 112 so that the process can be repeated to dispense another tablet.

Thus, a tablet cannot be inserted into the opening and be fed into the storage portion of the container, thereby further eliminating tamper concerns.
  • FIGURE 5 is substantially identical to the arrangement of FIGURE 4 except that the actuating member extends outwardly from the bottom wall as opposed to the first sidewall. Abstract
