Description

NOUVELLE CIBLE ARTIFICIELLE, NOTAMMENT POUR LE JEU DE BALL- TRAP, NON TOXIOJJE VIS-A-VIS DE L'ENVIRONNEMENT ET PROCEDE DE PRODUCTION D'UNE TELLE CIBLENEW ARTIFICIAL TARGET, PARTICULARLY FOR THE BALL TRAP GAME, NON TOXIOJJE WITH RESPECT TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SUCH A TARGET
The present invention relates to a new artificial target, non-toxic vis-à-vis the environment, useful in particular for clay pigeon shooting, made of divided material, agglomerated by a binder, and a method for producing such artificial targets.
The game of clay pigeon shooting is well known to hunters because it constitutes an effective means of training during the closed season. It is also the object of contests very popular with these same hunters.
In its sporting aspect, the game of clay pigeon shooting requires the use of standardized targets which have the shape of a curved disc or "plate" whose convex face is provided with circular ribs.
Traditionally, these targets are based on finely divided materials (in English or in the technical jargon "filler") agglomerated by means of binders, capable of ensuring sufficient cohesion of the target in order to resist the energy communicated to the projectile during launching .
The finely divided materials which are suitable for the realization of such objects are generally mineral in nature and come in particular from the crushing or grinding of massive rocks (siliceous or limestone materials ...), from the sawing of certain materials (slate, marble. ..) or other powdery materials such as talc or flour. These materials must not be toxic or dangerous to the environment. Such materials are commonly used and are widely described in numerous patents relating to targets in particular for clay pigeon shooting. We can cite for example the patent application FR-Λ-2,685,465 filed by the applicant.
Numerous binders have been proposed in order to agglomerate the divided materials mentioned above. Among the binders most commonly used in the prior art, there may be mentioned coal or petroleum pitch as well as bitumen.
US Patent 3,376,040 thus describes a fragmentable target consisting of 8 to 25% by weight of coal pitch having a melting point of between 75 and 177 ° C., the rest of the target being constituted by the divided material.
Swedish patent 76 04126 also describes targets including the binder is based on an oil pitch.
Patent application EP-A-592 502 mentions binders such as coal tar or bitumen associated with water-absorbent particles for the production of fragmentable targets, allowing the final disintegration of the targets by absorption of moisture.
Canadian Patent 1,260,653 describes binders based on petroleum pitch modified with a bis-stereolamide derivative.
All the embodiments described above have the major drawback of using binders containing, in greater or lesser proportion, aromatic polynuclear compounds such as benzo-alpha-pyrenes which may be toxic or dangerous with regard to the environment. . Coal pitch is the most loaded with polynuclear compounds, but petroleum pitches or bitumen have an excessively high proportion of these aromatic polynuclear materials. To overcome this drawback, several solutions have been envisaged recommending the replacement of the above-mentioned binders by other binders which are more acceptable from an ecological point of view.
For example, patent application WO94 / 12847 describes a target whose divided material is based on powdered gypsum and the binder is of the hydraulic type such as slaked lime or clay.
Likewise, patent application EP 487 381 describes artificial targets the binder of which consists of plaster.
US 5 316It has also been proposed to use, as binder, sodium silicate, optionally in combination with dextrins. These achievements are described in particular in US patent 5,316
These targets are produced by premixing the binder of the divided material and a solvent, in particular water, this solvent then being removed by heat treatment. It has also been proposed to replace the binders from pitch with organic binders. For example, patent application WO92 / 20635 recommends the use of degradable binders based on sugar and starch.
No. 5,317,037 mentions sugars, in particular mixtures of dextrose and fructose, polydextrose, maltose, manitol, gelatin, glutene, rhydroxymethylcellulose, gum arabic and starch, as binders. The binder is reinforced with fibers chosen from linen, cotton, viscose, rayon or wood. These binders also require an additional heat treatment step to make it possible to remove the solvent, in particular water.
It has also been proposed in US Pat. No. 4,623,150 to replace traditional binders with soluble waxes or paraffins. The preparation of such targets also requires the use of a solvent which must be removed subsequently. Among the solvents, organic solvents such as xylene, toluene, alcohols and water are mentioned in particular.
Japanese patent application 57-178732 describes a target composed of an agglomerated material and a binder consisting of a thermoplastic resin, in particular rosin, rosin esterified or hydrogenated, polyterpene resins, low molecular weight polystyrenes, xylene resins, coumarone-indene resins, petroleum resins or modified petroleum resins or waxes. These resins have a molecular weight between 200 and 3000. Likewise, Japanese application 53-007765 describes an artificial target whose binder is based on a petroleum resin.
Finally, patent application FR 2 316 574 describes a binder based on terpene resin whose molecular weight is between 300 and 3000 and the softening point between 60 and 200 ° C. Although all of the resins mentioned previously to replace pitches meet the requirements of modern societies with regard to the environment, the artificial targets obtained do not have all the brittleness characteristics which are necessary for the satisfactory operation of the game of clay pigeon shooting. Indeed, upon impact with lead or an equivalent metal, the targets must be fragmented into innumerable pieces and, literally, "go up in smoke". With the resins mentioned above, the fragmentation is incomplete and the target is simply broken into a few pieces which makes them completely ineffective for the game in question. Besides, to the knowledge of the applicant, none of the targets described in the cited patents (apart from those whose binder is based on coal pitch, petroleum or bitumen) have been marketed.
L'objet de la présente invention est de proposer des cibles qui répondent simultanément à plusieurs critères tels qu'ils peuvent être définis ci-dessous :The object of the present invention is to propose targets which simultaneously meet several criteria as they can be defined below:
- elles doivent respecter l'environnement, c'est-à-dire qu'elles doivent être exemptes de composés polyaromatiques, - elles doivent être suffisamment solides lors du lancement pour ne pas être fissurées à cette occasion,- they must respect the environment, that is to say that they must be free of polyaromatic compounds, - they must be strong enough at launch not to be cracked on this occasion,
- lors de l'impact elles doivent être fragmentées en d'innombrables morceaux et donc présenter un caractère de fragilité suffisant,- upon impact they must be fragmented into innumerable pieces and therefore have a sufficient fragility character,
En outre, la présence d'un solvant à moins qu'il ne s'agisse d'eau, cause d'autres problèmes de pollution étant donné que ce solvant doit être ensuite récupéré, traité et éventuellement recyclé.- In addition, these targets being manufactured at very high rates for a necessarily very low cost, they must be able to be produced according to the traditional process without additional drying step and without involving solvent. In addition, the presence of a solvent, unless it is water, causes other pollution problems since this solvent must then be recovered, treated and possibly recycled.
The goals defined above are achieved thanks to the targets according to the invention.
La cible artificielle selon l'invention est caractérisée en ce que le liant permettant d'agglomérer le matériau divisé comprend une matière hydrocarbonée aliphatique dont le point de fusion est compris entre 50 etThe artificial target according to the invention is characterized in that the binder for agglomerating the divided material comprises an aliphatic hydrocarbon material whose melting point is between 50 and
On peut également utiliser d'autres matériaux pulvérulents susceptibles d'être agglomérés f talc, cendres volantes de centrales thermiques ou de cimenterie ...).Among the finely divided materials which may be suitable in the context of the present invention, use will advantageously be made of mineral fillers originating from the crushing or grinding of massive rocks (siliceous or limestone fillers, bauxite, alumina, etc.) or originating from the sawing of certain materials such as slate or marble. It is also possible to use other pulverulent materials capable of being agglomerated (talc, fly ash from thermal power plants or from cement works, etc.).
You can also use organic materials such as cellulose, flour or sawdust.
Among the fillers preferably used in the context of the present invention, particular mention will be made of limestone fillers.
The proportion of divided materials and binders may vary according to that commonly used in the art considered.
In general, the targets according to the invention comprise in percentage by weight of 5 to 30% of binders and 70 to 95% of divided materials. According to a first preferred variant, the artificial target is characterized in that said binder partly comprises by weight:
- matière hvdrocarbonée 80 à 99 - additif 1 à 20.- hvdrocarbon material 80 to 99 - additive 1 to 20.
De préférence ledit liant comprend en partie en poids :Preferably, said binder partly comprises by weight:
- matière hydrocarbonée 88 à 98- hydrocarbon material 88 to 98
By the expression "aliphatic hydrocarbonaceous material", one will designate that which contains substantially only carbon and hydrogen atoms and which comes, in particular, from petroleum. It is therefore essentially a hydrophobic and non-aromatic material.
It has already been indicated that paraffins or waxes used alone lead to targets having a lower degree of brittleness than traditional targets. Surprisingly, the applicant has found that by mixing the aliphatic hydrocarbon materials mentioned above with a small proportion of thermoplastic resin, it was possible to obtain targets similar to those of the prior art relating to binders based on pitch or bitumen, without having the toxicity drawbacks associated with these.
As regards the additives, these are preferably chosen from thermoplastic resins of molecular weight between 200 and 3000 and a softening point between 50 and 150 ° C. Advantageously, the resin is chosen from rosin and its esterified or hydrogenated derivatives.
According to another preferred variant, the resin is chosen from petroleum resins or modified petroleum resins.
The invention also relates to a process for producing artificial targets as described above, characterized in that: a) the divided material and the constituents of the binder are mixed at an appropriate temperature, b) the appropriate quantity of the mixture obtained is pressure molded in a), c) the artificial target is recovered.
The manufacturing of the targets is done in a traditional way by hot mixing in a kneader, continuously, 5 to 30% of binder, in particular paraffin or wax additive with rosin or petroleum resins and 70 to 95% of a divided material, including a limestone filler. The mixing is carried out at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the hydrocarbon material, then pumped and injected into the molds of a press in order to form the targets. The targets are cooled and then removed from the mold, they can be used raw or painted before use.
The divided material agglomerated by a binder can be put into the form of granules after hot mixing and cooling, these granules can be used in presses for injection under pressure (press for injection of plastics) in order to produce non-toxic targets according to the 'invention.
A titre d'exemples non limitatifs, l'invention est maintenant illustrée par les deux exemples suivants : Exemple 1By way of nonlimiting examples, the invention is now illustrated by the following two examples: Example 1
Dans un malaxeur industriel on mélange à 100°C :In an industrial mixer we mix at 100 ° C:
- 900 kg d'un filler calcaire de granulométrie 0 à 120,- 900 kg of a limestone filler with grain sizes 0 to 120,
After mixing, the mixture is sent to a molding press and the manufactured targets are successfully tested for launch and firing resistance to hunting weapons.
Le reste du mode opératoire est identique à l'exemple 1.Example 2 The 5 kg of rosin are replaced by a petroleum resin supplied by the company Exxon under the brand Escorez. The rest of the procedure is identical to Example 1.
