Abstract

The present invention relates to an adjustment sleeve (3) for a ball bearing nut (2), arranged to be placed around the ball bearing nut. The sleeve is provided with devices (4, 5) for locking it to the ball bearing nut (2), and is suited to various industrial purposes, such as a numerically controlled working machine. The invention allows the same ball bearing nut and ball bearing screw to be used for different dimensions in different customers' industrial processes with equivalent plant. The need for stocking is thus reduced.

Description

ADAPTOR S LE EVE FOR A POWER SCREW
Technical field:
The present invention relates to an adjustment sleeve for ball bearing nuts.
Background art:
In numerically controlled working machines and the like, motor-driven ball bearing screws are often used, cooperating with ball bearing nuts, the latter being displaced to different positions along the screw when the screwed is turned. These nuts are normally dimensioned for the various purposes required by different customers. Such a screw or nut is manufactured and adapted for use in a customer's specific process. When such machine elements need replacing or have to be manufactured, it has hitherto been necessary to manufacture and adjust them to the desires of the various customers which, in view of the infinite variety, causes long delivery times and the necessity of holding large stocks.
Summary of the invention:
The invention aims at a solution of these and other similar problems and is characterized in that an adjustment sleeve is arranged to be placed around a ball bearing nut, said sleeve being provided with devices for locking it to said nut, and being suited to various industrial purposes such as a numerically controlled working machine. The advantages of such a sleeve arranged around a ball bearing nut, connected to a motor-driven ball bearing screw are multiple:
1. The number of ball bearing screws that must be kept in stock is reduced. The same nut + screw can be used for different purposes and dimensions by dimensioning the sleeve to the customer's requirements, and only a small number of dimensions are necessary for the nut and screw.
2. Delivery times to the customer are shortened since only the sleeve need be adapted to a customer's specific requirements. Ball bearing nuts and screws are often in stock. 3. The same ball bearing screw can be used for different sleeves.
4. The old sleeve can be used when changing to a new ball bearing screw.
Brief description of the drawings:
Figure 1 shows an adjustment sleeve according to the invention, seen in longitudinal section, arranged around a ball bearing nut. Figure 2 shows the same sleeve, seen from the short end.
Preferred embodiment:
An adjustment sleeve (3) is shown in Figure 1, arranged around a ball bearing nut (2) and locked to this by means of screws (4) drawn through screw holes in a flange (5) in the sleeve and in the nut. The number of screw holes may be variable. See also Figure 2 which shows the device from the short end. The nut is arranged around a ball bearing screw (1) which can be turned by means of a motor. When the screw is turned, the nut moves further along it.
The sleeve (3) is provided with connection means (6) to the industrial process on site. These sleeves can be varied and manufactured to satisfy the needs of individual customers, whereas the sleeve can be connected to a ball bearing nut or ball bearing screw of a type that can be used for many different dimensions, as required by the customer.
If the nut or screw has to be replaced this can easily be done, but the old sleeve is retained. Stocking ball bearing screws and nuts is simplified thanks to the limited number of dimensions for these machine elements and the delivery times for the various elements will be short.
The invention can be varied in many ways within the scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. An adjustment sleeve for a ball bearing nut, characterized in that an adjustment sleeve (3) is arranged to be placed around a ball bearing nut (2), said sleeve being provided with devices (4,5) for locking it to the ball bearing nut (2), and being suited to various industrial purposes such as a numerically controlled working machine.
2. An adjustment sleeve as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the sleeve (3) is provided with a flange (5) having screw holes corresponding to screw holes in the ball bearing nut (2) to allow it to be locked thereto by means of screws (4).
