  • the present system has been designed so that a minimum quantity of water is required in the water container used and that the rubber scraper and water container are so designed that surplus water is quickly removed from the scraper.
  • the surface of the rubber strip in the scraper takes up substantially 100% of the dust when slightly moistened, and is substantially 100% dust repellent when surrounded by water since a film of water is formed between the surface of the rubber scraper and the dust. This means that dust in the water container does not accompany the rubber scraper when it is lifted. Large areas can therefore be cleaned without the water having to be changed.
  • the water container is provided with a sponge along one of its long sides in order to remove any remaining drops from beneath the rubber scraper, the latter merely having to gently touch the sponge.

If the rubber strip is U-shaped, a section is required to hold the two sides apart as shown in Figure 7b so that no water pocket is formed as too much water would otherwise collect every time the scraper was lifted from the water container.
  • the total length of the water container according to Figure 3 is determined by a correct weight and suitable cleaning width being achieved for the scraper.
  • the water level in the container is at most 3 cm. This has been tested and found to be quite sufficient for the system to function perfectly. Only a slight rocking movement of the rubber scraper in the water container is necessary to clean it, as shown in Figure 5. When the rubber scraper has been dipped into the water it is pressed lightly against the sponge along one long side of the water container, whereupon any water drops underneath the scraper are removed as in Figure 9. If the water container is to be moved the lift holders on the water container according to Figures 4a, 4b can be reached by means of a short movement of the rubber scraper.
  • the sponge in the water container according to Figure 9 is located in a pocket enabling drainage through holes when the sponge has become saturated with water. Dust and dirt collected are bound together, giving the appearance of a roughly cut piece of yarn showing that dust binds dust and even dirt so that totally dust-free, clean floors are obtained which is of benefit to those suffering from allergies and people who are sensitive to dust swirling around.
