Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye, which is particularly easy and convenient to use and allows easy removal of a foreign body, especially under the upper eyelid.
  • a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye which is characterized in that it is designed as a rod-shaped part with a handle section and a section provided with an adhesive substance for the skin.
  • the invention provides a simple and easy-to-use instrument that can be handled both by the doctor and by the patient himself. If there is a foreign body in the eye, for example under the upper eyelid, the rod-shaped part is placed parallel to the edge of the eyelid with the section provided with the adhesive substance for the skin on the upper eyelid, as close as possible to the row of eyelashes and pressed lightly against the upper eyelid.
  • the adhesive substance creates a releasable adhesive connection between the rod-shaped part and the skin of the upper lid, so that the lid can now be turned, opened or ectropionized by rotating the rod-shaped part in the manner of a winding process.

  • the lid is folded back into its starting position by turning the rod-shaped part backwards. By briefly jerking the rod-shaped part, the adhesive substance is finally released from the skin of the eyelid, which ends the process.
  • adhesive substance for the skin used here is intended to encompass all substances which have an adhesive effect with respect to the skin of a living being, ie the skin of the eyelids, or which thereby form an adhesive bond.
  • This adhesive or adhesive connection must be so strong that the skin of the eyelid adheres to it when the rod-shaped part is turned. On the other hand, however, it must enable easy detachment of the rod-shaped part from the skin of the eyelid by manual handling of the rod-shaped part without causing pain for the patient. It is understood that the person skilled in the art can select suitable known adhesive substances or adhesives for this.
  • the adhesion of the adhesive substance or the adhesive must be maintained for a certain period of time, i. H. the adhesive substance or the adhesive must not solidify or dry out.
  • the section of the rod-shaped part provided with the adhesive substance preferably has a detachable, in particular removable, protective layer. This protective layer prevents the adhesive substance from losing its adhesiveness and also ensures that the section provided with the adhesive substance is not contaminated or damaged. The device can therefore be stored without any problems. If it is required, the protective layer is removed, for example by pulling it off, and the rod-shaped part wi d is placed on the upper eyelid or lower eyelid in the manner described above with the section now exposed and provided with the adhesive substance.
