Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye.
- the invention has for its object to provide a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye, which is particularly easy and convenient to use and allows easy removal of a foreign body, especially under the upper eyelid.
- a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye which is characterized in that it is designed as a rod-shaped part with a handle section and a section provided with an adhesive substance for the skin.
- the invention provides a simple and easy-to-use instrument that can be handled both by the doctor and by the patient himself. If there is a foreign body in the eye, for example under the upper eyelid, the rod-shaped part is placed parallel to the edge of the eyelid with the section provided with the adhesive substance for the skin on the upper eyelid, as close as possible to the row of eyelashes and pressed lightly against the upper eyelid.
- the adhesive substance creates a releasable adhesive connection between the rod-shaped part and the skin of the upper lid, so that the lid can now be turned, opened or ectropionized by rotating the rod-shaped part in the manner of a winding process.
- the underside of the lid is thereby exposed, so that the foreign body adhering to the underside can be removed in a simple manner manually, with the aid of a cloth, tweezers, etc.
- the lid is folded back into its starting position by turning the rod-shaped part backwards. By briefly jerking the rod-shaped part, the adhesive substance is finally released from the skin of the eyelid, which ends the process.
- adhesive substance for the skin used here is intended to encompass all substances which have an adhesive effect with respect to the skin of a living being, ie the skin of the eyelids, or which thereby form an adhesive bond.
- This adhesive or adhesive connection must be so strong that the skin of the eyelid adheres to it when the rod-shaped part is turned. On the other hand, however, it must enable easy detachment of the rod-shaped part from the skin of the eyelid by manual handling of the rod-shaped part without causing pain for the patient. It is understood that the person skilled in the art can select suitable known adhesive substances or adhesives for this.
- the adhesion of the adhesive substance or the adhesive must be maintained for a certain period of time, i. H. the adhesive substance or the adhesive must not solidify or dry out.
- the section of the rod-shaped part provided with the adhesive substance preferably has a detachable, in particular removable, protective layer. This protective layer prevents the adhesive substance from losing its adhesiveness and also ensures that the section provided with the adhesive substance is not contaminated or damaged. The device can therefore be stored without any problems. If it is required, the protective layer is removed, for example by pulling it off, and the rod-shaped part wi d is placed on the upper eyelid or lower eyelid in the manner described above with the section now exposed and provided with the adhesive substance.
- the rod-shaped part can be intended for single or multiple use. After repeated use, for example by the patient himself, the protective layer, if there is one, can be applied again to the section provided with the adhesive substance.
- the protective layer if there is one, can be applied again to the section provided with the adhesive substance.
- the rod-shaped part itself can be straight or curved, for example have a specially shaped grip section and / or a section provided with the adhesive substance for the skin, which is concave, ie adapted to the shape of the eyeball.
- a straightforward configuration of the section provided with the adhesive substance for the skin is sufficient to achieve the desired adhesive effect.
- the invention is not restricted to any special configurations.
- the rod-shaped part can be circular, rectangular or other.
- the rod-shaped part is spatula-shaped, i. H. the part is flat and has a flat top and bottom. The corners of the part can be rounded to avoid injury.
- This spatula-shaped embodiment has the advantage that a relatively large contact surface is available for pressing against the eyelid.
- the handle section is expediently formed at one end and the section provided with the adhesive substance at the other end of the part. In this way, the part can be handled particularly easily.
- the entire surface of the part can be provided with the adhesive substance in the corresponding section of the part.
- the adhesive substance is only on the top of the part, which is particularly advantageous in the case of the spatula-shaped configuration of the part.
- the adhesive substance itself can be applied directly to the corresponding section of the part. However, it can also be applied via an intermediate medium, for example a film, a layer of textile material, etc., the intermediate medium being suitably fixed to the rod-shaped part, for example glued to it.
- the adhesive substance may be wound plaster material, the back of which is glued to the rod from textile material, while the adhesive front is exposed or is provided with a removable protective layer.
- the adhesive substance used should also be skin-friendly.
- Plastic, metal and wood are particularly suitable as materials for the rod-shaped part.
- Figure 1 is a spatial representation of a device for removing foreign bodies from the eye.
- Figure 2 shows the device of Figure 1 in contact with the upper eyelid.
- the device for removing foreign bodies from the eye shown in FIG. 1 is a part 1 in the form of a spatula, which has a flat top 4 and a flat bottom.
- the part has a length of approx. 15 cm and a width of approx. 1 cm. It has rounded corners 5 and has a handle section 2 for manual handling and a section 3 provided with an adhesive substance for the skin. Both sections are arranged at the respective ends of the spatula-shaped part, the section 3 having the adhesive substance for the skin being located only on the upper side of the spatula-shaped part .
- the part is made of plastic.
- a section of a conventional wound closure plaster is used as the adhesive substance for the skin, the back of which is made of textile material and is glued to the top 4 of the spatula-shaped part 1, while the adhesive side of the wound closure plaster points upwards.
- FIG. 1 shows the spatula-shaped part 1 shortly before use, after a protective film has been removed from the section 3 which has the adhesive substance for the skin.
- FIG. 2 shows the use of the device in FIG. 1.
- the spatula-shaped part 1 is gripped manually on the grip section 2 and, according to the illustration shown in FIG a foreign body is to be removed.
- the section 3 is arranged as close as possible to the eyelash row of the upper eyelid, ie on the edge of the eyelid.
- an adhesive connection is established between the adhesive substance of section 3 and the upper eyelid.
- the spatula-shaped part is then rotated by manual manipulation in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2, the upper eyelid adhering to section 3 being turned over or opened.
- the inside of the upper lid is now accessible so that the foreign body adhering to it can be removed. for example with the help of a cloth.
- the spatula-shaped part 1 is then turned back into its starting position shown in FIG. Finally, part 1 is removed from the upper eyelid 6 by a short, jerky pull.
- the rod-shaped part can also be provided at both ends with a section having the adhesive substance.
- the middle for example, serves as the handle section.
