  • Toothed saw blades have traditionally been used for cutting mineral wool webs. However, such saw blades bring about a considerable dust formation as well as an uneven cutting result.
  • One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a method by means of which the above-mention ⁇ ed drawbacks are avoided in a reliable manner and by the simplest possible means, irrespective of variations in the properties of the wool web, such as thickness, con ⁇ sistency and density thereof.

  • Said driving system is coupled to a computer- controlled control unit, which is connected to a measur- ing device measuring the speed of the wool web 5.
  • the measuring device preferably consists of a belt carriage (not shown) measuring the speed and length of the wool web 5.
  • the belt carriage comprises a pulse transducer giving information to said control unit, which calcu- lates correct cutting interval for the products of inte ⁇ rest in each case.
  • the control unit adjusts the rotational speed of the crank axle 6 so that the motion of the bridge 3 in the direction of motion of the wool web 5 entirely corresponds to the speed of the wool web 5 during the cutting. Then it calculates the return speed for the bridge 3 so that the bridge is in correct position for next cutting again.
  • the cutting of the wool web 5 takes place alternatingly from one side of the wool web to the other.
  • the return speed for the bridge and, accordingly, the moment of the cuttings performed alternatingly in opposite direction transversely across the wool web are determined in accordance with a prede ⁇ termined cut length of the wool web.
  • the driving system giving the bridge its reciprocating motion F/R comprises a crank axle 6 and a speed-controlled electromotor 7 (not shown in Figure 3) coupled thereto.
  • the crank axle 6 comprises two crank arms 62 and 63 articulated with each other, the longer arm 63 being articulated 64 with the bridge 3 and the shorter arm 62 with an axle 65 driven by said speed-controlled electromotor.
  • the rotational speed of the crank axle 6 is synchronized with the speed of the wool web.
  • the rotational speed is determined according to desired cut length of the wool web 5 so that the bridge 3 with the cutting apparatus 8 mounted thereon is brought back to a posi ⁇ tion for next cutting in time, according to the above.
  • the carriage 81 and the cutting apparatus 8 are likewise coupled to said computer-controlled control unit for the control of their functions.
  • the actual cut- ting apparatus 8 mounted on the carriage 81 driven over the bridge 3 comprises a rotating cutting blade 9 with a driving device 10.
  • the cutting blade is preferably con ⁇ stituted by a thin knife blade comprising a sharpened edge of a hard metal element.
  • the cutting blade 9 is supported both above and below the wool web 5 by support elements 11, due to which the motion of the cutting blade is kept stable so that a straight and clean cutting of the wool web is obtained irrespective of the properties thereof, such as density, consistency and thickness.
  • the support elements are constituted for instance by support rolls on each side of the cutting blade or by a groove, in which the cutting blade runs.
  • the groove is produced by means of a beam provided with a slit, for instance.
  • the sup ⁇ port elements above the wool web 5 are constituted by support rolls 11, preferably two pairs of support rolls above the wool web, one pair on each side of a vertical centre line of the cutting blade, and below the wool web by a beam 11 provided with a slit.

  • the arrangement according to the invention by a cutting apparatus intended for the wool web may also be applied preferably to a length cutting apparatus and a side cutting apparatus of the wool web.
  • the length cutting apparatus comprises a number of laterally ad- justable motor-driven cutting blades. For receiving possible lateral forces, the cutting blades are stepped in the longitudinal direction of the mineral wool web.
  • the rotational speed of the cutting blades is automatically adapted to the speed of the wool web.
  • Each cutting blade is mounted in a laterally displaceable carriage with associated support elements, adjusting screw and servo-motor. Through connection to the computer-controlled control unit, an automatic adjustment of the positioning of the cutting blades according to desired product widths is made possible.
  • the wool web is fed forward through the cutting apparatus on a chain-driven roller conveyor.
  • the speed and length of the wool web are measured by the belt carriage driven by the wool web.
  • the belt carriage com- prises a pulse transducer giving information to said computer-controlled control unit.
  • the sides of the wool web are cut clean and granulated preferably by two side cutting apparatuses, one on each side of the wool web and mounted on the same stand.
  • Each side cutting apparatus comprises a side cut ⁇ ting blade and a granulating blade, which cut out the side of the wool web and grind up the material into granulate at the same time.
  • the cutting apparatuses are provided with individual drives.
  • the cutting blades of the length cutting appa ⁇ ratus and the side cutting apparatus are supported both above and below the wool web by means of support ele ⁇ ments, preferably support rolls on both sides of the cutting blade, whereby preferably two pairs of support rolls are positioned above the wool web, one pair on each side of a vertical centre line of the cutting blade and one pair of support rolls below the wool web.
  • the thin knife blades are kept laterally steady, whereby they cut straight through the wool web also in case of variations in density and thickness of the wool web.
  • the arrangement according to the invention en ⁇ sures a clean and straight cut both in the longitudinal direction of the wool web and transversely thereto by keeping the cutting blade laterally stable by means of supports both above and below the wool web.
  • the method according to the invention and the used apparatuses ensure a perpendicular cut across the whole width of the wool web due to the fact that the cutting apparatus moves transversely across the wool web at the same time as it follows the direction of motion of the wool web. Since the cutting takes place alterna ⁇ tingly from one side of the wool web to the other, the motions are calm and soft and allow a high feeding speed for the wool web.
  • the thin cutting blade provided with support elements guarantees a straight and clean cut as well.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil conçus pour couper une nappe de laine minérale. La nappe de laine (5) est coupée transversalement par rapport à son sens de déplacement au moyen d'un appareil de coupe (8, 9, 10, 11), pendant que celle-ci avance sur un convoyeur (2). Ledit appareil de coupe est monté sur un pont (3) mû par un dispositif de commande (6, 7) dans le sens de déplacement de la nappe de laine (5) pendant la coupe de sorte que le déplacement de l'appareil s'effectue à la même vitesse que la nappe de laine, la coupe perpendiculaire s'effectuant sur toute la largeur de la bande de laine. L'invention concerne également un dispositif utilisé pour ledit appareil de coupe transversale ou longitudinale constitué d'éléments de support (11) montés au-dessus et au-dessous de la nappe de laine (5) supportant la lame tranchante (9) de l'appareil de coupe.
