Definitions
- the invention relates to a mat for use as a lying, sitting or backrest mat, in particular for the physical therapy of diseases of the spine, with a base on which geometric bodies in the form of pyramids and / or cones and / or cylinders and / or wedges and / or hemispheres or the like are applied
- buttons-like bodies shown there and acting as massage elements are arranged in two straight lines running parallel to one another, the spacing of which is equal to the width of a vertebral body, the spacing of the adjacent geometric bodies of a row is approximately the length of a vertebral body.
- a massage takes place over the entire length of the spine, seen essentially uniformly, the vertebral bodies being acted on the muscles surrounding them in a purely mechanical way for physical therapy.
- EP 0 239 098 discloses the use of alternating magnetic fields generated in a mat for therapeutic purposes, in which a more or less spatially homogeneous alternating magnetic field is generated, which has a therapeutic effect on the entire surface of the body lying on the mat . Proceeding from this, the invention has set itself the task of further developing such mats for therapy of the spine in such a way that diseases and hazards which occur particularly frequently are counteracted in an optimal manner.
- this object is achieved in that coil windings connected in parallel or in series or in a combination of series and parallel connection are arranged in the geometric bodies, the central axes of which are perpendicular to the mat and are identical to the axis of the geometric bodies, and in that the free ends of the series and / or parallel connection are connected to an alternating current source from a preferred frequency range of 2 to 20 oscillations per second.
- the geometrical bodies attached to the mat have outwardly directed tips or edges which are arranged in such a way that the geometrical bodies come to rest on both sides of the spine, consequently the weight of the body directly on the spine and not, as is customary, due to those lying outside and is supported by the ribs defined areas.
- the point contact of the patient and his involuntary movements create alternating compressions, one
- the main idea of the invention is to have a low-frequency magnetic field concentrated on the stressed areas to support the massage effect. Alternating fields and electromagnetic waves can have a significant influence on the human body, as every person has become aware of through the connection of his well-being with the fluctuations in air electricity caused by the weather. The thermal effect of high-frequency currents is successfully used in medicine for therapeutic purposes.
- infrared light which leads to superficial heating
- electromagnetic alternating fields of low frequencies have significantly greater penetration depths and can thus act on the diseased or particularly stressed area.
- the effect of low-frequency alternating magnetic fields can be explained by the fact that, in the case of diseases, the bioelectrical processes in the body are disturbed and take place too quickly or inhibited. These bioelectrical processes in the body can be influenced from the outside in order to return them to their normal values.
- the alternating electromagnetic field that forms in the body generates
- Eddy currents through which the electrical charges in the cell membranes change and local heating and consequently an improvement in the Trigger blood circulation. These currents continue to have a normalizing effect on the cell membranes and thus also on the target organs. It is observed that, depending on the frequency, blood vessels, for example, expand or contract. Magnetic field therapy based on these effects is known in clinical medicine for improving the healing of broken bones and diseases of blood vessels. Successes in the treatment of psychosomatic complaints were also statistically proven, rheumatic ailments could be significantly reduced. A frequency range of 2 to 20 per second has proven to be expedient for therapeutic purposes, the frequency depending on the particular clinical picture. The application time is recommended as at least one hour daily.
- the individual coils are electrically connected in series or in parallel or in a combination of both circuits, while the free ends of the overall circuit are connected to a power source.
- This current source does not necessarily supply sinusoidal alternating current, but, for reasons of saving electricity, it can also be designed in such a way that it delivers short current pulses, the temporal course of which can be designed as desired.
- the duration and the current strength of the impulses are constant, while their frequency can be infinitely adjusted from 2 to 20 per second for therapeutic reasons. Typical values for the pulse duration are 50 ⁇ s, for the current strength 50-100 ⁇ A.
- the structure of the power source can be can be easily realized by means of modern circuit technology and therefore does not need to be described in detail.
- the power source can be supplied by the power supply or by a built-in battery. In addition, connection possibilities for motor vehicle batteries are conceivable.
- the geometric bodies are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the mat so that their distance corresponds approximately to the length of a vertebral body.
- the spacing of the geometric bodies in the transverse direction of the mat is expediently chosen so that it corresponds to the width of a vertebral body.
- the mat is provided with geometric bodies, at least to improve the massage effect are elastic on the outside, which also increases comfort for the user.
- a further improvement in the effect is achieved if the geometrical bodies are deformed only in the outer region under the loads that occur.
- the desired elasticity can easily be achieved by at least partially designing the geometric bodies as hollow bodies.
- geometric bodies themselves, for example they can be designed as pyramids, cones, cylinders, wedges or hemispheres.
- They are connected to the base by welding, vulcanization or sewing on, or are formed in one piece with it.
- the surface of the entire mat is covered with an elastic material, such as Fabric covered.
- an elastic material such as Fabric covered.
- a homogeneous, easily cleanable and also aesthetically pleasing surface is obtained.
- the function is not affected by the elasticity of the material used.
- the shape of the mat and in particular the base is basically arbitrary in the context of the invention, because it can be both the shape of a
- Mat but also a shell, in particular a bucket seat, or a mattress.
- fastening devices which or the like as elastic fastening straps, slip covers. can be used on a surface in the form of a mattress, a chair back, a car seat, etc.
- the coils arranged in the geometric bodies consist of coated, insulated copper wire, which is often used in electrical engineering because of its high conductance and its favorable price.
- the number of turns of the coils is arbitrary in the context of the invention, it is also possible to design a coil with only one turn, which simplifies the manufacture of the mat.
- the reduced self-induction of this coil can be easily compensated for by increasing the strength of the current flowing through it.
- Figure 1 is a plan view of a mat according to an embodiment of the invention
- Figure 2 is a side view of a geometric body containing a coil.
- FIG. 1 shows a mat according to the invention, the basic structure of which consists of a base (1) and geometrical bodies (2) arranged thereon.
- the geometric bodies (2) are hemispherical and arranged so that their distance in the longitudinal direction of the mat corresponds to the length of a vertebral body and the distance in the transverse direction of the mat approximately corresponds to the width of a vertebral body.
- the shape of the pad (1) is chosen so that the mat can be used as a support on a mattress.
- Wire coils (3) made of copper wire run in the geometric bodies (2). Four wire coils are connected in series and six of these series connections are connected in parallel. The two connections of this circuit (4, 5) are connected to the current source.
- FIG. 2 shows a section through a geometrical body (2). It is attached to the base (1) and a wire coil (3) runs inside it, which here contains 3.5 turns. It can be clearly seen that the geometrical bodies (2) in the illustrated embodiment are approximately hemispheres.
