Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an oil filter for interchangeable insertion in a filter device arranged in the oil supply line of heating oil burners, with a porous, cup-shaped filter body made of sintered polyethylene grains and with an essentially annular fastening part made of polypropylene connected to the filter body.

  • the filter body and the fastening part have been manufactured separately: the filter body by sintering for several hours in an oven, the fastening part by injection molding or extrusion.
  • the parts manufactured in this way are then connected to one another.

  • the fastening part usually engages in the cup-shaped filter body with engagement or holding means specially molded onto it.
  • Oil filters with cup-shaped filter bodies are also known, the active filter surface of which is enlarged by a plurality of indentations or bulges of the side wall distributed over the circumference.
  • the filter body of this oil filter has a kind of rosette shape. With molded ribs the fastening part engages a little in the filter body and there between the bulges of the side wall. As a result, there is only a relatively non-central hole in the fastening part for the oil flow.

  • the known method is characterized above all by a very short process duration of at most a few minutes.
  • EP-Bl 0231 588 mentions that it is possible to fill the ceramic mold in layers with different plastic granules, which have different sintering properties, in order to obtain a sintered body with different properties in sections.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention by an oil filter of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the ring-shaped fastening part, without engagement in the cup-shaped filter body, is connected exclusively to its edge, namely by partially fusing the material of the two parts to one another at the connecting surface of the two parts and / or the material of the fastening part has partially penetrated into pores of the porous filter body.
  • Such an oil filter according to the invention can be produced by using the microwave sintering process already mentioned above.
  • the present invention is based on the surprising finding that despite the very different melting and sintering conditions for polypropylene on the one hand and polyethylene on the other hand, it is possible to briefly heat a ceramic mold by means of microwaves in such a way that a polypropylene granulate contained therein is completely melted and liquefied In contrast, polyethylene granules in the same form are only partially melted and sintered together. A powder could also be used instead of granules.
  • polypropylene granules or for the fastening part and polyethylene granules for the filter body are therefore filled together into the same ceramic mold, which is subsequently heated in a microwave oven.
