Definitions

  • This invention relates to a security device for a vehicle which can be either incorporated in the vehicle upon manufacture or can be fitted to deter vehicle theft.
  • the invention provides a vehicle security device including a first member pivotally mountable for movement between a first position wherein it overlies, and prevents useful access to ,a pedal of a vehicle and a second position wherein it lies flat against a floor of a vehicle, the first member being pivotably connected to a second member which can move between a first position wherein it locks the first member in its first position and a second position wherein it lies flat on the floor of the vehicle.
  • the second member can be connected to the first member by a hinge ' '* which extends traversely of the vehicle and in the second position the two members can lie flat on the vehicle floor with the first member disposed forwardly of the second member.
  • the means for locking the two members in the first position can include an attachment on the vehicle and means for interconnecting to the attachment and the second member.
  • the second member can have a slot adjacent its rear edge engagable with a hasp upstanding from a vehicle or adjacent structure.
  • a key operated separate bolt can pass through an aperture or slot in one or other of the members and engage a complimentary formation on the vehicle floor.
  • Means can be provided for locking or restraining the two members in their second position so as to enable normal driving of the vehicle with the members in their second position.
  • the two members should be so constructed that the upper surfaces when in the second position ' providing a smooth uninterrupted false floor to a vehicle so as to avoid inference with control of the vehicle by use of the pedals.
