Abstract
Le dispositif servant à ralentir et/ou à arrêter un véhicule terrestre comporte un filet allongé (1) destiné à retenir un véhicule en mouvement, comportant une corde supérieure (2) et une corde inférieure (3), et conçu pour se dresser en travers du chemin du véhicule qui s'approche. Un premier (41) et un second (42) montants sont placés à des extrémités respectives du filet pour tendre celui-ci, et des éléments de freinage (51, 52) sont montés entre le filet et des points d'appui sensiblement rigides (61, 62) et reliés aux cordes supérieure et inférieure aux deux extrémités dudit filet, ces éléments de freinage étant disposés pour absorber l'énergie cinétique du véhicule. Les montants (41, 42) sont adaptés pour pivoter entre une position sensiblement horizontale dans laquelle le filet est couché sur le sol, et une position sensiblement verticale. Des éléments élastiques (71, 72) reliant la corde supérieure (2) et/ou la corde inférieure (3) aux montants sont sensiblement tendus de manière à tendre le filet dans ses positions verticale et couchée, et sont réglés de sorte qu'ils cèdent lorsqu'ils subissent une force de traction prédéterminée, et qu'ils lâchent prise lorsqu'une limite prédéterminée d'élasticité est franchie, ceci afin de maintenir la tension du filet lorsque d'autres véhicules roulent sur le filet couché ainsi que lorsque le véhicule que l'on veut arrêter s'engage dans le filet, jusqu'au moment où ce dernier dépasse sa limite d'élasticité.
