Abstract

L'invention concerne des piles rechargeables en bioxyde de manganèse (en général des piles alcalines ayant des anodes de zinc ou des piles ayant des anodes en lithium et en un électrolyte non aqueux), notamment les cathodes de ces piles. Ces cathodes ne sont pas renfermées, en d'autres termes, aucune cage n'est agencée dans la pile entre les cathodes et les anodes. Des changements significatifs des dimensions de la cathode lors de la décharge de la pile sont évitées, alors que celle-ci a une tendance à gonfler pendant la décharge et à se contracter pendant un cycle de chargement. La cathode remplit essentiellement tout l'espace qui lui est réservé dans la pile, avec un léger jeu qui permet à la cathode de piles du type à bobine de se dilater en hauteur ou dans le sens longitudinal, ou de se dilater ou augmenter transversalement dans des piles de type à bouton. Des additifs peuvent être ajoutés au mélange cathodique, y compris notamment des fibres conductrices en graphite ou en d'autres matériaux conducteurs. D'autres matériaux peuvent également être ajoutés au mélange cathodique, y compris des additifs métalliques. L'invention concerne également des procédés de fabrication, y compris le compactage et le recompactage du granule cathodique, ainsi que toute une plage de pressions de compactage. Les piles ainsi obtenues peuvent avoir des taux de décharge élevés et supportent un grand nombre de cycles de charge/décharge.
