Definitions
- VCR for a television signal with a
- the invention is based on a video recorder for a television signal with a NICAM sound carrier according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the luminance or BAS signal is recorded by frequency modulation of an image carrier and the color signals with a frequency carrier with a lower frequency than the frequency spectrum of the image carrier.
- the luminance or BAS signal is recorded by frequency modulation of an image carrier and the color signals with a frequency carrier with a lower frequency than the frequency spectrum of the image carrier.
- it is also known to record one or more sound signals by frequency modulation of additional carriers which lie between the frequency spectra n of the frequency-reduced sound carrier and the image carrier, within the frequency spectrum of the image carrier or above this frequency spectrum.
- NICAM 728 Near instantaneous companded audio. Multiplex
- the NICAM carrier at 6.55 MHz also called DQPSK
- DQPSK 6.55 MHz
- Various components are therefore required for the demodulation, modulation and processing of the audio signals to be labeled.
- the invention has for its object to provide a recording of the sound signals of a television signal with a NICAM carrier with little circuitry and low signal distortion.
- the NICAM sound carrier which is modulated with the digital sound signals, is thus recorded directly without any decoding.
- the frequency range required by the NICAM sound carrier in the path of the modulated image carrier is preferably freed from signal components of the image carrier by a blocking filter, so that no signal components of the image carrier coincide with the NICAM sound carrier. Since the NICAM sound carrier is recorded immediately, there is little outlay in terms of circuitry.
- the frequency modulation per se intended for the recording is avoided.
- the direct recording of the NICAM sound carrier without decoding also avoids the signal distortions which inevitably occur during decoding.
- the NICAM sound carrier can be frequency-selectively evaluated from the total signal taken from the tape and fed to a NICAM decoder providing the LF sound signals.
- no additional preparation of an FM sound carrier is therefore necessary.
- Various components such as modulator, demodulator and separate heads for an FM sound carrier are therefore omitted. The advantages of helical trace recording can therefore be exploited for the NICAM signal with little effort.
- the NICAM sound carrier mentioned is modulated with the digital data signal according to the principle of quadrature modulation. This means that information is in the phase of the carrier.
- DQPSK differential quadrature phase shift keying
- Digital data signal obtained from the demodulator is, however, less sensitive to such phase errors. Therefore, this digital data signal is recorded in the area of the head change instead of the color carrier.
- a sound signal which is not or is less disturbed by the head change is then available in the area of the head change and is switched to during this time.
- the time for recording the digital data signal is relatively short at around 6 lines. However, this time is sufficient to avoid the disturbances in the audio signal which occur as a result of the head change even with tolerances in the position of the head change.
- the frequency of the color carrier reduced in frequency and the frequency of the digital data signal are in the same order of magnitude of 750 kHz. Therefore, with regard to the frequency position, it is possible to switch briefly from the recording of the color carrier to the recording of the digital data signal without difficulty, without the other recorded signals having a different frequency position being disturbed.
- a television signal with a NICAM sound carrier is received with the antenna 1 and supplied to the Txmer 2.
- Tuner 2 delivers the CVBS signal and the NICAM sound carrier NT with a frequency of 6.55 MHz (Standard I).
- the luminance signal Y (BAS) is separated from the composite signal with the low-pass filter 3 with a cut-off frequency of 3 MHz and fed to the FM modulator 4. This creates one with the luminous Tesignal Y frequency-modulated image carrier BT, which reaches the adder 6 via the bandpass 5 with a pass band from 1.2 MHz to 6 MHz.
- the quadrature-modulated color carrier F is evaluated and fed to the mixing stage 8, in which the generator 9 mixes with an unmodulated carrier. This results in the modified color carrier Fm, reduced in frequency to approximately 627 kHz, which is also fed to the adder 6 via the switch S1 in the position b and the low-pass filter 10 with a cut-off frequency of 1.2 MHz.
- the output signal of the Addier ⁇ stage 6 passes through the adder 11 and the amplifier 12 to the video heads 13, with which it is recorded on the magnetic tape 14.
- the NICAM sound carrier NT contained in the television signal is evaluated frequency-selectively and added to the signal via the line 30 in the adder 11.
- the NICAM sound carrier NT is thus recorded unchanged additively with the other signals on the magnetic tape 14.
- the NICAM sound carrier NT also reaches the DQPSK demodulator 16, which generates the digital data signal ND at its upper output and the clock pulses C at its lower output.
- This signal first arrives at the NICAM decoder 17, which delivers the two LF-R audio signals L and R at its outputs.
- the signal ND also reaches the switch S1. In the area of the head change between the two video heads 13, the switch S1 is switched from the position b to the position a by the switching pulse S. During this time of about 6 lines, the path of the modified color carrier Fm is thus switched off and the signal ND is recorded instead.
- the signal ND has a data stream of approximately 728 kbit corresponding to 364 kHz and thus approximately the same frequency ge like the color carrier Fm.
- the data signal ND thus recorded briefly in addition to NT is thus available during the critical time of the head change as a digitized sound signal which is less sensitive to disturbances from the head change than the signal NT.
- the digital signal runs over the low-pass filter 10, which integrates away the needle impulses that arise during the switching in the nanosecond range.
- Fig. 2 shows the frequency position of the individual recorded signals.
- the baseband data signal ND which is partly in the frequency range of the modulated color carrier Fm, is only briefly recorded in place of the modified color carrier Fm.
- the image carrier BT modulated with Y has a frequency swing from 3.8 MHz for the synchronous peak to 4.8 MHz for peak white and occupies a frequency range from 1.5 to 6 MHz.
- the frequency spectrum of the image carrier BT is expanded up to about 6.5 or 7 MHz, e.g. with S-VHS, it may be appropriate to increase the frequency of the NICAM sound carrier NT when recording by mixing to a higher value of e.g. 7.5 or 8 MHz to implement.
- This solution can also be used with a standard BG in which the frequency of the NICAM carrier is 5.85 MHz.
- the amplifier 18 supplies the signal BT + Fm + NT + ND recorded according to FIG. 1.
- the image carrier BT is evaluated in a frequency-selective manner and again generates the luminance signal Y or BAS via the FM demodulator 20, which signal is transmitted via the low-pass filter 21 with a limit frequency of 3 MHz reaches the adder 22.
- the Color carrier Fm is fed to the changeover switch S2 via the low-pass filter 23 with a cut-off frequency of 1.2 MHz and reaches the mixing stage 24 in position b. This is converted into the original by mixing with an unmodulated carrier from the generator 25 Color carrier F with 4.43 MHz, which reaches the adder 22.
- the CVBS signal is thus again available at output 26.
- the NICAM sound carrier NT is evaluated frequency-selectively with the bandpass filter 15 and fed to the DQPSK demodulator 16.
- the changeover switch S2 has been switched to the position a by the switching pulse S according to FIG. 1.
- the data signal NDY ** sampled from the tape 14 passes via the “Ti.ef_ ⁇ .pass” 23 ⁇ and, d, en
- Switch S2 in position a on the NICAM decoder 17. This signal is less disturbed by the head change than the signal NT.
- the digital data streams ND * and ND ** are evaluated in terms of error rates and the one with the lower error rate for the others
- the switching pulse S extends by ⁇ 3 lines tl, in order to always ensure a sufficiently long time for the additional recording of the data signal ND even with fluctuations in the position of the head change.
