Abstract

Attachment device for mounting crosspieces on a window, comprising an external window moulding (4), particularly of aluminium, at the lower edge of the window. The window moulding (4) is provided with an axially extending groove (13), and an attachment bracket (14) is provided with a tongue (17) to be mounted in this groove. The attachment bracket (14) is preferably provided with a screw (21) protruding to the tongue (17), to press against the outer side of a rib (12) on the moulding.

Description

Attachment device for crosspieces on a window.
The invention relates to an attachment device for optional crosspieces on a window, as indicated in the introductory part of claim 1.
Background
The change to single pane windows, has created a need for mounting of outside, optionally attached crosspieces.. It has been difficult to solve this mounting problem at the aluminium glazing mouldings used at the bottom of the window frame. It has been proposed to use mounting clips introduced behind the outer sealing element, but this has been an inferior solution, due to the impaired sealing.
Object
The main object of the invention has been to create an improved mounting device for optional window crosspieces. A more specific object has been to develop a mounting device not impairing the sealing, neither at the sealing element, nor at the aluminium moulding. Further, easy demounting and mounting of the crosspieces should be possible. A still further object is to arrange for attachment of additional eguip ent during transportation and storage of the window.
The inventive principle
The basic idea of the invention is stated in claim 1. This attachment device will provide a firm attachment without impairing the main function of the elements of the window. Additionally, the elements needed as well as the mounting work necessary, are simple.
The further claims state details of the invention, each bringing particular advantages. This will be described further below. Example
The invention is illustrated in the drawings, wherein Fig. 1 is showing a verical section through a window provided with an attachment device according to the invention, while
Fig. 2 is showing a modified device in a corresponding view, with additional equipment attached.
In Fig. 1 is shown a window frame 1 with an insulationg glass pane 2, a sealing element on the inner side and an aluminium moulding 4 outside. Said moulding is carrying a rubber sealant 5 and is acting as a pressure mean to press the rubber sealant against the pane 2.
The aluminium moulding 4 may have any suitable basic structure. In the case shown, it has an inner groove 6 facing the pane 22, to hold a bead 7 of the rubber sealant 5. Its main part 8 is inclined downwardly toward a rain drip nose 9 in a plane in front of the frame 1.
The aluminium moulding 4 is mounted with screws or nails 10 forced into the frame, with a number of interposed members 11, e.g. of wooden blocks.
At its inner edge, the aluminium moulding 4 is provided with an upwardly and outwardly oriented rib 12, providing an undercut C-groove 13 facing the main part 8 of the moulding. This groove 13 is making one part of the attachment device according to the invention. The rib 12 also provides a support for the rubber sealant 5.
The groove 13 is creating a support for one or more attachment brackets 14 provided to mount a set of optional crosspieces 15. The attachment bracket 14 has a rectangular main part 16 with an inclined base to be supported by the main part 8 of the aluminium moulding 4. The main part 16 of the bracket is at its inner side provided with a tongue 17 mating the groove 13, to be attached to this. At its upper side, the main part is provided with a vertically extending stud 18 to be introduced in a blind bore 19 at the lower end 20 of the adjoining crosspiece 15. The attachment device can be utilized with the elements described above. The main part 16 is then attached to the groove 13 and the crosspieces attached by mounting the end 20 on the stud 18. If the crosspieces 15 have more than one vertical rod, a corresponding number of attachment devices 14 is needed. The crosspieces can be mounted in a manner known per se at the upper side and if necessary also at the sides.
The attachment device can by further improved by arranging a threaded bore with a conical end screw 21 directed toward the outer side of the rib 12. After mounting the attachment device 14 and the crosspieces 15, the device can be stabilized by thighting the screw 21 against the rib 12. The invention enables the mounting of crosspieces 15 without a frame, as the attachemnt bracket 14 can be mounted on the end of a rod of the crosspieces. The device can also be used for mounting of crosspieces with an outer frame. The moulding 4 of the shown embodiement is made of aluminium, but other metals, alloys and plastic are alternatives.
The rib 12 can be restricted to parts of the window edge, e.g. with a cut out at one end. In this case, the tongue 17 can be introduced sidewards into the groove 13. In Fig. 2 an alternative embodiement of the invention is shown. The interposed members 11 of the first embodiment are replaced by a mounting element 22 which is attached to the frame 1 and which is further described below. The moulding 4 is provided with a flange 23 at the lower side of the lower groove 6. At its free edge, the flange 23 is provided with an axially extending hook 24 which in its mounted position cooperates with an undercut groove 25 in the mounting block 22. When the flange 23 is tensioned against the wall of the groove 25, the rubber sealant 6 is forced against the window pane 2. The grip of the hook 24 can be released by bending the moulding 4 along an axcial line with a tool (not shown) engaging the upper groove 13. The upper groove 13 is in this embodyment used for mounting a L-section mounting rail 26 of plastic. The mounting rail 26 will under transportation and storage hold a packet 27 containing various mounting equipment, e.g. handles, screws, ventilating fittings etc. At the building site, this packet 27 is released and the upper groove 13 is exposed for mounting of crosspieces as described above.
As an alternative to the screw mounting described above, a clips means can be attached to the upper groove 13
