- the present invention relates to a screw cap which is produced by the injection moulding of thermoplastics material and has a horizontal end wall, a cylindrical skirt with internal threading for the screwing of the cap on to the externally-threaded neck of a container by means of a screw-capping machine, and an annular sealing washer made from a plastisol which, after moulding of the cap, is cast in an annular seat and polymerised by heating, the seat being defined by a peripheral annular portion of the internal surface of the horizontal end wall of the cap, by an annular rib which projects from the internal surface, and by a substantially triangular-section annular rib which projects radially from the top of the internal surface of the cylindrical skirt of the cap.

Abstract
Le couvercle à vis décrit, qui est en matériau thermoplastique, est pourvu d'un siège placé à proximité adjacente de la périphérie de la surface interne de sa paroi d'extrémité horizontale (1a), de façon à loger une rondelle d'étanchéité (6) fabriquée à partir d'un plastisol, lequel est coulé et polymérisé par chauffage. Pour éviter que la rondelle (6) soit endommagée, au détriment de sa fonction d'étanchéité, lors de la première opération de vissage par machine du couvercle sur le col fileté (A) d'un récipient, à la suite d'un serrage excessif du couvercle dû à un réglage incorrect de la machine à visser les couvercles, les surfaces intérieures de la paroi d'extrémité horizontale (1a) du couvercle sont munies de plusieurs saillies circulairement espacées (7), qui coopèrent avec la surface d'extrémité (B) du col (A) du récipient, afin d'éviter que la rondelle (6) soit coupée. Dans le cas de couvercles utilisés pour la fermeture de récipients pour produits alimentaires devant être pasteurisés, l'ancrage de la rondelle (6) dans son siège est amélioré grâce à une nervure annulaire axiale supplémentaire (11), qui pénètre partiellement dans la rondelle (6), et grâce à une nervure annulaire (12) qui définit la périphérie interne du siège et qui présente une lèvre (14), laquelle est repliée horizontalement en direction du siège.
