Abstract

The invention concerns a clip for attaching together several sheets of paper or thin lightweight material both at the upper edge of the sheet and the lateral edge, preferably the left edge, to form, in the latter case, a binding. The clip consists of a wire of mild steel or other metal or of rigid plastic shaped to form a grip with two open curved legs (4, 5, 6) of unequal length lying in the same vertical plane. The legs are interconnected by a bent part protruding from the vertical element of the legs. The components (2, 3) of the legs are spaced a slight distance apart at the level of the bend (1) in a substantially horizontal plane and overlap and meet at the tip of the vertical grips. Description

FASTENER FOR HOLDING ASSEMBLED PAPER SHEETS

The object of the present invention is to provide a fastener capable of holding together several sheets of paper or other light materials and of small thickness, this without perforation or folding of the sheets. The fastener traditionally used in a similar use only allows the held by the upper edge, a relatively small number of sheets. We can actually see that, as soon as the papers have reached a certain thickness, the fastener deforms and shows a tendency to slide from the bottom up while being released from the grip. In addition, this fastener cannot be used on the borf of the leaves as a binding.

The fastener, object of the present invention, fills these gaps by the fact that it is composed of a mild steel wire or other metal or rigid plastic material, shaped without connection or welding, in the form of a clamp to be used vertically . The two arms of the clamp are connected together by a continuous quasi-horizontal upper part, forming a bend at its end. This part substantially exceeds on one side, the width of the body of the vertical clamp.

The use on the upper edge of the sheets is done by vertically inserting the branches on either side of the sheets to be joined, preferably keeping the protruding part to the left. The use on the left edge of the sheets is done by inserting the fastener perpendicular to the side, the protruding part directed downwards. Then, by straightening it vertically, the bent end will abut against the edge of the leaves by enclosing them. Several fasteners placed one under the other will thus form a binding.

The drawings shown on the single annex sheet illustrate, by way of example, an embodiment in accordance with the present invention. The scale used is 2: 1 compared to the measurements of a medium size fastener. Figure 1 shows the fastener seen from the front. Figure 2 shows the fastener seen from the rear profile (right end of fig. 1).

Figure 3 shows the fastener seen from above. An embodiment of the invention is described below by way of indication and in no way limitative, in particular as regards the proportions between the various parts of the fastener.

A single piece of wire is used; this, to form the almost horizontal part is bent in the same plane (1) so as to obtain two branches (2) (3) having initially in the interior of the elbow (1), a spacing between them. The branch (2) located at the rear is then bent downwards, at its end opposite the elbow, so as to form an angle of approximately 100 °, and start the large branch of the pliers (4). The wire is bent in its lower part in a semicircle (in the example given but whose shape can be different) and goes up parallel to the descending part (6), keeping a significant spacing, to stop under the part almost horizontal, keeping a slight spacing.

The branch (3) located in front does not remain parallel to the other (2) but is inclined downward and inward so that its descending elbow comes to lodge under the other, very slightly offset towards the front with respect to the latter, in the vertical plane. This elbow will form an angle of approximately 105 °. The shape of this vertical branch. (5) is the same as that of the other (4), but it is reduced in size, so as to frame it while keeping a slight spacing in the same vertical plane. Its lower part can be slightly curved forward, so as to facilitate the insertion of the fastener. A substantial spacing is left in the lower curved part (7) between the two branches.

Claims

1 - Fastener for holding several assembled sheets of paper together, comprising a clamp formed by a metal or plastic wire, characterized in that this clamp is composed, first of all, of a large branch (4) whose vertical upper part forms a angle of approximately 100 ° with a quasi-horizontal part (2) from which it originates and which, bent in its lower part, rises parallel to the descending wire (6) while retaining a substantial spacing; the end stopping at a slight distance under the αuasi-horizontal part; and of a smaller branch (5) of which the upper vertical part forms an angle of approximately 105 ° with the part (3) from which it comes. This branch is framed in the interior of the other in the same vertical plane. A significant vertical spacing (7) between the two lower parts of the branches being preserved.
