Abstract

A new kind of paint support replaces the watercolour paper or linen otherwise used for painting. This paint support has in principle three layers. The lowest layer is a cotton wool fabric (1a; 1b) covered with a non-woven fabric. Latex paint (3) is applied on the non-woven fabric to form the topmost layer. Surface properties similar to those of linen are thus obtained, with the advantage that the support need not be stretched on a frame. It is therefore easier to handle and cheaper than linen, but does not become undulated like paper when paint is applied. It has the further advantage that the blending of colours applied thereon can be better controlled. This paint support therefore gives the artist new technical possibilities that will revolutionize the art of painting.

The invention relates to a novel painting base, i. H. a painting surface, which in some cases has a better surface quality than linen, so that in certain cases this newly invented painting base is more suitable for painting than linen.

As mentioned, two types of painting bases are already known on the market. These are:

- Linen: This is used for painting in two different ways: a) stretched on a frame b) mounted on cardboard

- watercolor paper

These two known painting bases have the following disadvantages:

- the linen is expensive and unwieldy

- the watercolor paper likes to curl when painting

- The merging of the colors can not be controlled well enough

With the present invention, the above-mentioned disadvantages have now been overcome. The invention itself consists in a clever combination of a normal cotton fabric (1a), which is covered with fleece line (2), which in turn is coated with dilute emulsion paint (3). The whole production looks like this:

- Washing of the cotton fabric (1a) to be used, so that the finish with which the cotton fabric (1a) has achieved greater strength comes out - Impregnation of the cotton fabric (la) so that it becomes impermeable to water

- Covering the cotton fabric (1a) with fleece line (2) (eg H 250 or H 310) by ironing the fleece line (2) with the iron

- Applying dilute emulsion paint (3) to the nonwoven line (2). (Depending on the degree of dilution of the emulsion paint (3), different strength and surface properties, and thus also a special suitability for Acryi colors, can be achieved.)

The end product then looks in cross section as shown in FIG. 1. It should be mentioned that a rougher painting surface can be achieved with a certain trick. For this purpose, a raw cotton fabric (1b) - which has not been mercerized, i.e. has not been treated with the procedure which is intended to protect the fabric from shrinking during washing. This means that the raw cotton fabric (1b) can contract, while the fleece line (2) retains the old length. As a result, the fleece line (2) is forced to curl slightly, which gives it a rougher surface.

With the invention of this new May base, it will thus be possible to introduce a groundbreaking new technique in May art that allows the colors to flow together more effectively. And what makes the invention particularly interesting is the fact that it can also be combined with the advantage of a lower price. With this new painting base you can list the following advantages:

- no wave formation when painting like this z. B. can occur with watercolor paper - Achievement of different degrees of roughness of the painting surface. It is thus possible to meet the most varied demands of the painting person, and in this way a suitable surface can also be created.

- Better control of the intermeshing of the colors by targeted selection of the degree of roughness of the painting surface

- In the production of expensive linen, which also has to be clamped or pulled onto cardboard, which makes this old variant disproportionately expensive, with the present invention an inexpensive replacement was found, which still has all the other advantages hides.

- Similarity to paper, which makes the new painting base lighter and easier to handle because it can also be rolled. So you have a paper resemblance with all surface properties and advantages of linen.

- Possibility of using an interchangeable frame in contrast to the painting painted on canvas, in which the canvas is either mounted on cardboard or fixed in a wooden stretcher frame.

The above advantages show that this painting basis can be used universally in painting and will in all likelihood revolutionize painting and give it a new impetus in painting technology.
