Definitions
- the subject of the present invention is the production of a key holder comprising a device making it possible to adjust the size of its ring, variable as a function of the number of keys which it is desired to hang thereon, and preventing the acci lace opening of the ring, after locking.
- the previous inventions consist essentially of spiral rings or half-rings bearing on a support, opening and closing again thanks to the simple elasticity of the metal used for their production.
- Some more elaborate ring opening and closing systems include:
- the object of the present invention is to offer the user a key holder allowing the easy accommodation of an increasing or decreasing number of keys, thanks to a ring whose size is variable and can be adjusted according to different positions and whose locking and opening are ensured by a mechanism incorporated in the body of the key ring and which makes it possible to give the desired dimension to the ring, as well as to prohibit its accidental opening. It relates to a key holder according to claim 1.
- the accompanying drawings illustrate, by way of non-limiting examples, two embodiments and a variant of the key holder according to the invention.
- Fig. 1 is a front view of the first embodiment.
- Fig. la is a side view corresponding to FIG. 1.
- Fig. 2 is a sectional view along 2-2 of FIG. 1a, showing the interior of this embodiment.
- Fig. 3 is a schematic front view of the second embodiment.
- Fig. 3a is a side view corresponding to FIG. 3.
- Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view, on a larger scale, along 4-4 of FIG. 3.
- Fig. 5 is a view similar to FIG. 3 but showing a variant of the second embodiment.
- the first embodiment is formed, on the one hand, of a flat housing 2 formed of two symmetrical parts secured and constituting the body of the key holder, and, on the other hand, of a rod 1, made of metal or hard plastic, U-shaped whose branches la, lb are of unequal lengths while its intermediate part has the shape of a semicircle. Inside the housing 2 is arranged a mechanism, visible in FIG. 2, the function of which will be explained later.
- the housing 2 It is provided in the housing 2 two parallel grooves 9a, 9b, of unequal lengths, in which are engaged and can slide the branches 1a, 1b respectively, of the part 1.
- the longest branch lb ends in a lug 4 forming bolt as we will see later.
- a chamber 13 in which is placed an oscillating part 3 having the general shape of a right triangle and having at its apex opposite to the right angle a curved part it forming a leaf spring.
- the part 3 On its side opposite this vertex, the part 3 has an actuation button 10 passing through a slot 10a of the body 2 and slightly protruding outside of this body, in a depression 10b thereof.
- the part 3 has on one of its sides a row of notches or notches 14 forming strikes and in each of which can selectively engage the bolt 4 as will be seen.
- the operation of this embodiment is as follows. Starting from the position of the organs shown in FIG. 3 where the leaf spring 11 forces one of the notches 14 to cooperate with the bolt 4, if one acts on the actuation button 10 from top to bottom in FIG. 3, the part 3 is lowered by oscillating around its right end and the notch or keeper 14 in which the bolt 4 was engaged, detaches from it and releases it.
- the branches 1a, 1b are pressed into the housing 2, so that the part of the part I remaining outside the housing forms a ring of a size appropriate to the number of keys that this part carries and to the desired degree of ease of handling of the keys attached to this ring.
- the part 11 forming a spring returns the notches or strikes 14 to the active position and the lug or bolt 4 engages in the nearest striker 14. From this moment, the part 1 is locked on the housing 2.
- the notch or bolt 4 prevents the long branch 1b from completely coming out of the housing 2, during the maneuver which has just been described. It also prevents the part l from rotating around the axis of the branch lb when the short branch 1a is completely disengaged from the housing 2. It can be seen that in the key holder described, the mechanism visible in FIG. 2 makes it possible to adapt the size of the useful part of the part 1 to the number of keys engaged on this part and that it ensures the locking of this part in the chosen position.
- the long branch 1b could have, in its part protruding from the free end of the short branch 1a, not a single lug 4, but several lugs or bolts spaced apart in the same way as the notches or strikes 14.
- the housing 7 is of flat circular shape; it is also formed of two symmetrical parts 7a, 7b, secured in a known manner.
- the member intended to receive the keys is a circular ring 5 extending over an angle of approximately 340.
- This ring is designed to pivot, at one of its ends, at 12, inside the housing 7, while its opposite end can engage a variable amount in this housing when this ring is rotated around the pivot 12 (which is clearly eccentric with respect to the central region 8 of 7) and that its center describes the arc of a circle 5a.
- the mechanism for locking the ring 5 in the position that has been chosen according to the number of keys engaged on it is shown schematically ment in fig. 4.
- a tension spring 16 disposed between these flanges and tending to bring them one of the other.
- the free end of the ring passes between parts (not visible in the drawing) of the flanges 15a, 15b, which under the action of the spring 16 press it between them. These parts are preferably striated or notched, to avoid sliding of the ring between these parts of the flanges.
- the ring then advantageously has ridges or one or more lugs to cooperate with the ridges or the notches of the flanges.
- this second embodiment is as follows. To unlock the ring 5, it suffices to press on the central region of the parts 7a, 7b, of the housing so as to bring them slightly closer to one another, which allows the elasticity of these parts. As a result, the flanges 15a, 15b are slightly separated from one another, and thus the ring is free to rotate around the pivot 12, either to release its free end from the housing 7, or to engage this end more or less in the case, depending on the number of keys placed on this ring. When the desired degree of penetration is reached, it suffices to stop the pressure on the part between parts 7a, 7b, so that the flanges 15a, 15b, press the ring 5 between them and lock it in the housing.
- the variant according to fig. 5 differs from the second embodiment simply by the fact that the ring 6 is here in the form of a hyperbolic spiral instead of being circular.
- This ring 6 pivots at one of its ends, inside the circular housing 7a, around an eccentric pivot 12a.
- the end of the spiral which pivots in this way is that of the start or origin of the spiral.
- the operation is the same as in the case of FIGS. 3, 3a, 4.
- the production is made of metal or plastic hard, the ring and the case being able to be the subject of different surface treatments or, possibly, to be decorated.
- the object of the present invention is to offer the user a pocket or wall-mounted instrument, depending on the version, allowing him to store it conveniently, eliminating the risk of scattering it as a result of an accidental ring opening, all of them keys it would have to collect, without hampering the ease of maneuverability of each of them thanks to the possibility of adjusting the size of the ring.
