Abstract

Procede et appareil de production de gaz utilisant une nouvelle electrode de degagement d'halogene catalytique (39) pour des systemes electrochimiques, telle qu'une cellule electrolytique (10) pour la production de chlore. Les cellules electrochimiques (10) comprennent une cathode catalytique (34) et une anode catalytique amelioree (39) liees et positionnees sur les cotes opposes d'une membrane d'electrolyte de polymeres solides (13) une source de potentiel a courant continu entre la cathode et l'anode et des moyens (22) d'extraction de gaz d'au moins l'une des electrodes sont prevus. L'anode catalytique amelioree est un alliage d'oxyde de ruthenium et d'oxyde de manganese. Dans un mode de realisation, le chlore est produit par electrolyse a l'aide d'une cathode catalytique, une anode de degagement catalytique de chlore, laquelle anode de degagement de chlore comprend de l'oxyde de ruthenium et de l'oxyde de manganese, une membrane de transport d'ions d'electrolyte de polymeres solides etant positionnee entre la cathode et l'anode, la cathode etant liee sur une surface de la membrane et l'anode etant liee sur l'autre surface de la membrane, et en etablissant un potentiel a courant continu entre la cathode et l'anode et en alimentant en saumure l'une des electrodes pour degager electrochimiquement du chlore a l'anode. En ajoutant l'oxyde de manganese a l'oxyde de ruthenium, l'oxyde de ruthenium est stabilise, et on prolonge sensiblement la vie de l'anode dans une cellule d'electrolyse lorsque le materiau catalyseur oxyde de ruthenium/oxyde de manganese est utilise en tant qu'anode sans pour autant nuire au rendement et a la tension de la cellule.
