Un procede de commutation selon lequel, pendant la transmission des signaux du numero appele par la partie qui appelle vers un poste de communication, des signaux supplementaires concernant le type d'information transmise sont envoyes simultanement a cette station et apres reception des signaux du numero appele, le type d'information transmise est analyse, le resultat de cette analyse permettant de determiner son caractere. Le centre de commutation est pourvu d'une unite (12) de determination du type d'information transmise connectee a un centre de communications telephoniques a longue distance (1) et a un ordinateur (10). Dans le cas ou un canal est occupe pendant la transmission de donnees a partir de l'ordinateur (10), une occupation est effectuee avec commutation ulterieure des canaux, tandis que dans le cas ou un canal est libre la commutation directe est effectuee.
