I, JOSEPH VALE, of Beloit, in the countyof Rock, and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvemeutsin Rotary Bake-0vens, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention consists -in providing a eoven with a rotating heart-h, supported by an upright shaitresting upon a step at thebottom of the oven, and having a bearing through 'the top or arch ut'the oven. I Description of the Awompuuying Drawing. Figure 1 is a-pers'pective view of the exterior ofthe oven. 5 A Figure.2 isa. horizontal sectional view, taken in a. line through the oven at the top of the fixed hearth.
Figure 3 is a; perspective view of the rotating hearth H and-shall: H detached. Figure 4 is a. vertical section nearly through the sent-re from front to rear of the oven.
Gene;- rsmjption. I A'represeuts the wallsaud body of the oven.
-H, the revolving hearth and pivoted shaft, to which it is supported by suitable arms.
ing hearth H, of fig. 3, moving the same with conven ientease; or it may be turned by'suitable gearing attached to the uprightsha'f't H, or by a lever and ratchet attached thereto.
O O are fiie-grates,.and the doors opening into' the naces, in the drawings, one of which is removed to show the fire-grate (J, fig. 2.
a a is the smoke-flue or chimney.
-'thefire-grates b bare flues for admitting the heated air intothe baking-chamber directly under and around the rotating hearth. v v g is'a sliding damper, by the employment of which smoke and gases are allowed to escape through the fine or chimney a a, and is operated by the book et g, fig. 2.. v
The crown E is made pf brlok in the ordinary 1uanner,'0r it ma be made of heavysheet-meta v resented int le d rawlng, suitahly supported uy ribs or arms. v The upper end of the-rotatingshalt, H through the centre of said crown E, and if made of cape of heat from the oven. Y The furnace being directly under the fixed hearth, the heat is admitted to the oven directly, circulating underthe rotating hearth ascending by the spaces between the rhngof said hearth, and the wall of the oven;
also up through the opening round the shaft H, pervadmg every part of the oven at the same time. The
oven is operated in baking through theiuoor B, fig. '1.
Batches of his 8m, are placed upon .th'e'hearth Hsnccessively, until. one revolution has .been made, when it willbe found that those tilst placed thereon, are sufliciently done to he removed.
I am aware that rotary ovens have been .made before, and therefore do not claim'broadly as such.
. C'ltri ms. I claim, as my'inventiou 1. The rotating disk or hearth H,'supported by the shaft .H', and revolved in any suitable manner, as and for the purpose specified. v
