Be it known that I, H. STIcKNEY, of Reno, in the county of Venango, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement inA Cooking-Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following `is a full, clear, and exact desciiption thereof, which will enable others skilled in theart to makeand usc the same,
reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification. y This invention relates to a new and improved construction and combination of parts, whereby I am enabled to adapt the base-burning principle to cooking-stoves; and the invention consists in arranging a base-burning 1 furnace, and by suitable fines conducting the products of combustion to where the h'eat can be utilized for cooking and other domestic purposes, as will behcreinafter more fully described. The cooking-stove proper is represented by A, with the supply-chamber in the centre, markcdB. C is the hearth of the stove. The stove-grate is conical in form, and is marked D. This grate is supportediby a conical frame, marked D', which is itself supported by the upper portion of the ash-box B. There is anash-pan, A',
which slides under the grate upon the hearth, and air is admitted to the fuel through sliding dampers over the f ash-pan` With the exception of that portion of the stove which forms thc hearth, and which portion is open, the furnace is surrounded by acasing which i's composed of circularl slides, by which an oven, C', is formed i around the furnace, access to which is obtained by the slides before mentioned. The bottom of the oven is marked c. b is a grate or rack in the oven. Provision is madelfor the admission of airby holes through the slides, as seen at d, which air passes up through the oven, and into the air-passage e. The products of combustion arc -brought in direct contact with t-h-qukottles, and may be made to pass to the 1` outer edge of' thestove, and from thence into the iluef, under the top plate Frbctwecn theiholcs, and then be;
conducted upward through the fluef, or they may pass directly upward into thc vertical `luesf, as indicated by4 the arrow at e. In the former caso the vcurrent is controlled bythe damper g, in the latter by 'an annular-ringl damper, which is operatedV by the projecting lever 7L.
