DESIGN FOR AN INKSTAND.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,805, dated April 1G, 1872.
To all to whom it may concern:
I, LEVI L. TOWER, ot' Somerville, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Design for Inkstand and Pen-Rack, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 denotes a side elevation, and Fig. 2 an end view thereof'.
In the said drawing, A denotes the base, (on which the ink-fountains are. 1nounted,) the same having the shape as shown in Figs. l and 2, and being formed of brass or any other suitable metal or material. \Vitl1in the said base a chamber is formed to receive the glass fountains or body B, the same lia-ving the contour as shown in the drawing. The glass body is retained in its position by means of two pairs of arms, a e and a a', extending up from the base and impinging against the body B, on opposite sides thereof. Each of' these arms represents a plant or shrub with a series of projecting buds, c c, &c., and each pair of such arms so formed constitutes a pen-rack. The outer inclined surface of the base is ornamented with a series of figures in cameo, having the form and arrangement as shown. The said glass body or reservoir is of an approximately rectangular shape, its corners representing curved buttresses, its sides being made up of iiat and curved surfaces. The arms are disposed in front of the plain portions, which are respectively flanked by curved columns. The said body is cast in one piece, and may have two or more ink-wells, and be of any desirable length and width. C is a domeshaped cover having a series of leaves radiating from its center, and being surmounted by a n'nial having the form as shown.
Having described my invention, what I claim 1s- 1. The design for the base A, as shown and described.
2. The design for the glass body B, as shown and described.
3. The design for the arms constituting the pen-rack, as shown and described.
4. The design for the covers C, as shown and described.
5. The combined designs of the base A, the body B, and the pen-rack, as shown and described.
LEVI L. TOWER.
