DESIGN FOR GAS-FITTINGS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the BamS.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANCIS ERNEST THOMAS, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Gas- Fittngs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,elear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates toa new design ofgas-littings or joints, and consists more particularly in a new ornamental shield applied to the barrels and cool;- liandles of the fittings, and in a new design for the portions of joint adjoining the barrels, and for the elbows.
These designs are applicable for all gas-fittings of the nature shown in the drawing, in which- Fignre 1 shows an L-pendent cock;
Figure 2, a swivel-pendent cock;
Figure 3, a bracket-cock;
Figure 4, a middle swing;
Figure 5, a universal swing;
Figure 6, a two-light pendent cock; and
Figure 7, a side nipple.
The ornamental shields a, on the barrels b b of the several littings shown are oval, and have within them rhomboidal leaves or rosettes, c o.
Similar shields, a, with ornaments o c, are shown on the handles of the cocks ff.
The pipes (l, near the barrels b and the elbows e e, have their circumfereuees grooved, parallel to their axes, ns shown in all the'gures, except in fig. 7, where the side nipple has but one ornamental barrel.
