Description

new States that time FRANK WATERS, 0E PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO THOMAS W. STARR, OF SAME PLACE.
Design No. 4,803, dated April 11, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A HAND-STAMP.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, FRANK WATERS, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for Hand- Stamps; and I do hereby declare the following to he a clear and exact description of the nature thereof sufficient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to fully understand and make the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, in which- Figures 1 and 2 are elevations showing dilferent portions of the design, illustrating my invention.
Figures 3, 4, and 5 are bottom views thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
My invention is a neat, simple, and attractive design for a hand-stamp.
Referring to the drawing- A represents the spring plunger;
B, the die or type-head;
O, the top or flange;
D, the body, through which the plunger plays; and
E, the pedestals which support the stamp, and between which the die or stamp-head moves.
The pedestals and body are made in one piece, and portions are removed or cut away at opposite points of the pedestals to form passages F; or, in other words, the body and pedestals may be said to be a solid piece of somewhat cylindrical form, having vertical spaces F out out therefrom, and the bottom bored out, to leave pedestals E at the lower edge of the body.
A stamp constructed according to this design possesses neatness, taste, lightness, and strength.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a hand-stamp, consisting of the parts A B O D E E, as set forth and shown in the accompanying drawing.
The above signed this 9th day of March, 1871.
Witnesses: FRANK WATERS.
