DESIGN FOR HOES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BARNA T. STOWELL, of Quin- I cy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Hoe; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view, and
Figure 2 is a transverse longitudinal section.
This invention consists in a hoe shaped as hereinafter described, that is to say- First, slightly curved crosswise, or from side to side, and curved to a. greater degree lengthwise, or from end to end, sons to form a blade concave in both directions as to its inner surface or that next to the handle, and convex in both directions as to its outer surface.
Second, widest at its front end or cutting-edge, and with sides inclined slightly inward and backward from both front corners to points at one-third, more or less, the distance from the front to the rear, thence inclined more rapidly inward, with aconvex curvature, till the hoe is narrowed to one-third, more or less, of the width of its front edge, and thence running in converging direotions to the rear end of the hon, forming a narrow prong behind the handle.

The design for a hoe, as herein shown.
