DESIGN FOR A PICTURE-FRAME.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same I, J OSEPHH. SAUNDERS, of J ohnstou, Rhode Islam], have invented a new Design for Picture-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawing the form of my design is shown, in which- A, B, O, D, &c., are the apertures for the pictures, the design shown being arranged for small card-pictures.
I construct my frames of wood, metal, or any other suitable material, but wood will probably be generally used.
I saw out the frame from the wood, which is prepared by taking two pieces of board and joining them at the cross 2:, with the grain at right angles, by what is termed halving. This is done to prevent a liability to warp.
Having sawed out the general form, the apertures A, B, O, 850., are made.
The glass and pictures are held in place by means of small cleats fastened to the back of tbefi'alne, or by some device similar to holding window-panes.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A design for a picture-flame in form of a cross, made ofany suitable material, and arranged for holding twenty-two card-pictu res, they also form i ug a cross, as above described.
