DESIGN FOR BOXES FOR THE TOPS OF BUREAUS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the name.
I, CHENEY KILBURN, of Philadelphia, county of] Philadelphia, State ot' Pennsylvania, have invented or i produced a Design for Boxes for the Tops of Bureaus, of which the following is a. specification.
On reference to the accompanying drawing- Figure l is a perspective view oi a box, made in accordance with my design;
Figure 2, a plan view of the saine; and
Figure 3, an enlarged sectional view, illustrating,r l the design of the molding or finish for the edge oi' the box. i
The front and sides of the hox are l'ornied upon a continuous curve of such a character that the box l shall be somewhat narrower at the back than at .'iF point between the latter and the front of the box.
The outline of the box represented in the drawing consists, for instance, of a part ot' a circle described from the point a, on a. line, :i: x, parallel with the back of the box, and it will he observed, on ief'ereiice to tig. 2, that the distance between the opposite sides of' the box on this center line is greater than upon the ,i line y y, which represents the back of the box. j The same eect may be produced, without departl iup,r freni my design, in a box t'ornied on an oval or elliptical curve, providing.;r that the box be narrower at the back than :it a point in advance oi' the latter.
'lhe molding or finish for the edge of the box is of the peculiar design plainly illustrated in lig. .'l.
l claim; l. A box l'or the tops of bureaus, having its front l and sides (or ends) i'oi'nicd upon a continuous curve of such aeharactcr that the box shall be narrower at the back than ata point between the latter and the front ot' the box, all substantially :is described and illustinted.
