Fig.1. 3 is a eross-seetion of the fork-arm, taken on line 3 3 of Fig.1. Fig; l. is a similar crossseetion of one of the arms of the fork, tztlcen i on line I I of Fig. I.
The leading or eliaraetm'istie features of :t bieyeie'frante for]; mztdo in .u-eortiauce with my design are as follows: Th arms of tho I fork are tnmlo smaller at their outer than at their inuereutls. where thoynre joined toeitelt other byaconueetiug part ort-rown, and they taper from their inner lo their outer ends. liotlt the outer and inner sides or laws of each fork-arm is et'nnposotl mainly of three plane stlrt'aees. an intermediate snrhtee, and two lateral surfiu'es. The said intermediate surfa e is widest at the outer end of the arm and extends the full width of the arm at the said outer end thereof and tapers gradually toward the inner end of the arm. At the said inner end of the arm the margins of said intermediate surface are brought. together, or nearly so. The lateral oblique surfaces are 33,597, dated. November 20 1900.

disposed symmetrically, one on each side of the intermediate surface, and are arranged obli uely to said intermediate surface. The said oblique lateral surfaces are widest at the inner end of the arm, extending at said inner end of the arm from the side edges thereof to the central lines of its outer and inner faces and taper gradually toward the outer end of the artnavhcrethemargiusthoreofarehrought together, or nearly so. The inner side margins of -aeh of said lateral oblique surfaces meet or coincide with the side margins of the intermediate surface, so as to form two angles at either side of said intermediate surface extending the full length of each forkarm. The side edges of each fork-arm are e ual in width to the thickness of the arm at the outer end thereof and taper gradually toward the inner end of the arm. The outer end of each arm is substantially rectangular in cross-section, as shown in Fig. 3, while the inner end of each arm is generally of lozenge or diamond shape, as shown in Fig. I.
\Vhat I claim as new is- The design for a fork for bicycle and like tubular frames substantially as herein shown and described.
