WILLIAM MORGAN, OF PITTSBURG, AND JAMES G. TIEASLET, OF ALLEGHENY} PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNORS TO THE AUTOCAR COMPANY, OF PITTS/ BURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A STEERING-AXLE FOR MOTOR-VEHICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,822, dated June 12, 1900.
Application filed December 19, 1899. Serial No. 740,932. Term of patent 14 years.
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM MORGAN, a resident of Pittsburg, and JAMES G. I-IEAS- LET, a resident of Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and origi nal Design for a Steerin g-Axle for Motor-Vehicles; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The figure illustrates a perspective view of our new steering-axle for motor-vehicles.
The essential feature of our new design for a steering-axle for motor-vehicles consists in the construction herein described and shown.
1 represents one arched member, and 2 the other arched member, which is provided with the curved portion 3 and straight portions 3 thereon. The outer ends of the arched member 1 and the outer ends of the straight portions 3 of the arched member2 are joined in union socket-pieces 4: 4, having forked extensions 5 5 thereon. Upon the curved portion 3 of the arched member 2 is the collar (3, which is provided with the flanges 7 7' thereon, and upon the arched member 1 is the collar 8, which is provided with the flange 9 thereon. Braces 10. are secured between the two arched members 1 2.
We claim-' I The design for a steering-axle for motorvehicles, substantially as herein shown and described.
