DESIGN FOR A FRUIT-JAR.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,757, dated May 29, 1900.

Application tiled April 28, 1900. Serial No. 14,784. Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that LANGELINE SMELKER,a citizen of the United States, residing at North Star, in the county of Darke and State of 5 Ohio, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Fruit-Jars; and I do deelare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the Sallie, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming xo a part thereof.

Myinveution relates to a new and original design for a fruit-jar; and the object is to provide a design ol' this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.

15 The invention consists in a jar composed of a body having a bottom provided with au annular recess surrounded bya rim in which are notches and au annular rim projecting above the top of the jar, which will be new zo described in detail.

3o A designates the body of the jar, which is circular and somewhat larger diametrieally between the bottom and top thereof; li, the bottom, having an annular rim (l at the cir eumferential edge thereof extending as a portion of the body-wall below the bottom, which 3 5 also has an annular recess D adjacent to the rim C. The rim C has notches E disposed at intervals about the lower edge thereof. At the top of the body A is an annular shoulder a, from which an ordinary neck .I rises, the 4o shoulder having a slight depression b at the base of the neck. 'lhe lid F and the relaining-ring are exhibited as though they were integral and are ornamental as well as useful parts of the whole design. An annular rim 45 G extends above all other portions of the jar and has substantially a plane upper surface, and a flange I is in a lower plane, while the lid F is in a still lower plane. The whole top appears as a basin surrounded by therim G, 5o and the bottom presents itself as a disk in which is the recess D, surrounded by the notched rim C, and by the formation above described is exhibited the leading feature as a single design already indicated.

Having described my invention, what l claim is- The design fora fruit-jar, as herein shown and described.
