Description

ftuitml gitana ROBERT MACDONALD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
' i Design No. 3,247, dazed November 1.7, 186s.
DESIGN FOR LADIES' COLLARS AND CUFFS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, ROBERT MACDONALD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Ladies Collars and Ouis; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specilication.
Figure 1 represents a plan view of my improved design for ladies collais.
Figure 2 is a plan view' of a collar-design as heretofore made.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new design for ladies and childrens collars and cuiis, and consists in printiug the stripes or lines thereon in such manner that the Whole system of such stripes or lines will form a uniform and ornamental design.
Heretofore the stripes were always printed or otherwisc ailixed in parallel rows upon the faces of the co1- lars or cui's, (as in iig. 2,) and did never, owing to the peculiar form of the cuffs or collars, form a uniform pattern at the ends of such collars or cuffs.
To avoid this I print, paint, or aiix in any other suitable manner, upon the faces of the collars or cus, stripes or lines c a which radiate all from one common centre, as shown in iig. 1, said centre being either the same, or in line with that from which the upper and lower edges of the collar are described.
The lines are either plain lines, or are ornamented in suitable manner.
I do not conIine myself to any particular form of them, my invention consisting solely in the applicaf tion of the radial lines or stripes, as set forth.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for collars and cuffs herein described.
ROBERT MACDONALD.
