D7451 OF 0 310286 DESIGN.
No. 3|,286. Patented July 25, I899.
W. U. SNYDER.
WATERING THOUGH.
(Application filed June 90, 1899.)
Fllll. FIB. E.
INVENTO WIT/m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE \VILLIAM U. SNYDER, OF GLEN ELDER, KANSAS.
DESIGN FOR A WATERlNG-TROUGH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,286, dated July 25, 1899. Application filed June 29, 1899. Serial No. 722,346. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
le it known that I, WILLIAM U. SNYDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glen Elder, in the county of Mitchell and State of Kansas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Watering-Troughs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
In the drawings, Figure the watering-trough. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section taken on the line as .1: in Fig. 1. Fig. 8 is a plan view of the watering-trough. Fig. 4 is a cross-section taken on the line y y in Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of the design consists of a reservoir having a flat side, a head closing one end of the reservoir, a head arranged at a little distance inward from the other end of the reservoir, leaving an opening adjacent to the flat side of the reservoir, and a lip projecting from one end of the fiat side of the reservoir in front of the said opening and forming a shallow chamber outside the last said head and within the body of the reservoir.
A is the reservoir, which is a portion of a cylinder, and a, is its flat side.
B is the head which closes one end of the reservoir.
0 is the head arranged at a little distance inward from the other end of the reservoir,
1 is a front view of and c is the opening formed between the head C and the flat side a of the reservoir.
D is a lip projecting from one end of the fiat side a in front of the opening 0 and formin g a shallow open-topped chamber (1 outside the head 0 and within the body of the reservoir.
E are auxiliary shallow chambers which extend longitudinally along the reservoir, one on each side of the fiat side a, and which communicate with the chamber (1.
F are perforated lugs for the attachment of a bail or bucket handle, projecting from the reservoir in front of the head 0 and one on each side thereof.
The device is used for watering poultry. It is filled by standing it on its head B and pouring water onto the head C, and it may then be carried about by an ordinary bail or bucket-handle.
When in use, the reservoir is stood upon its flat side a, and the water flows through the opening 0 and stands at a constant level in the shallow chambers, which are automatically replenished from the reservoir.
I claim The design for a watering-trough, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
R0131. HAMILTON, W. G. CovER'r.
