DESIGN FOR A BADGE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,113, dated July 4, 1899,

Be it known that I, GRACE W. HUBBELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Badges, of which the following is a specification, reference be ing had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

Figure 1 is afront elevation of a badge made according to my design. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section.

The leading or characteristic feature of my design consists of a miniature representation of a pan as it appears when viewed from the bottom or under side, upon an outwardcnrved portion of which bottom B is a hemispherical map of the western continent, showingNorth and South America. The said map does not cover the entire bottom of the miniature pan, while the circular bottom part B is surrounded by an outward flaring or beveled rim A. The combination in the design of the pan and the map immediately suggests the compound word Pan-American Without the intervention of words or lettering.

It is apparent that this design is applicable to buttons, lockets, medals, and the like.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a badge, substantially as shown and described.
