GEORGE A. SQUIER, Ul CLEVELAND, UIIIU.
DESIGN FOR A MOUNTING FOR EYEGLASSES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,604, dated April 25, 1899.
Application filed March ZQJSQQ. Serial No. 711,019. Term of patent 7 years lie it known that I, GEORGE A. SQLIER. a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of (Juyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design in Mountings for Eyeglasses, of which the following is a specification, referenee being had to the aeeonipanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the said drawing I show a perspeetive elevat ion of my new design, the leading or material feature of which is found in its unity or oneness of design, forming a symmetry and beauty of design which is attractive to the eye and affords a marked contrast with one which is built up or aggregated out of sundry parts and which unavoidably gives a frag mentary and elumsy effect. Ineidentto this unitary distinctiveness and attractiveness of the design is its smooth and polished surface a, made possible by its singleness of character and which is shown as extending on the inside of the span or bow A, the most eonspieuous outline of thedesign, and as running thenee without seam or break of any kind to mar or disturb its perfect evenness onto the divergent and ornamental lateral but different-appearing ln'anehes I and 1' at the base of the bow or arch A that is to say, the design is marked and noticeable, especially by rea son of the unbroken surfaeeo, running, llrst, down within the bow A and then spreading in different direetions onto the brauehes I) and 1' and eoyeringas well the outer surfaces of the divergent somewhat leaf-like formatimis on the branch r, thus sustaining the singleness or oneness of the design throughout. The otherwise smooth snrfaee of the branehes I; is relieved by line dots or spots spareely scattered over the same.
\Vhat I claim is- The design [or a mounting for eyeglasses, substantially as herein shown and described.
Witness my hand to the foregoing speeilt eation this 22d day of Mai-eh, lsnt GEORGE A. hQlTIEl-l.
